Well...over there on your left is Bo Derek, in Corn Row Braids, from the Film, "10", (I knew that!) I heard you say.

Just watched her Biography on the Biography Channel, of all places, and was somewhat surprised to learn that at age 16 she went to Greece to make a movie with John Derek, a heart-throb of the forties and 30 years older than the sixteen year old, who had a different name at the time. They lived together, then married three years later, when she was 19 and he 49. The marriage lasted until he passed away.

It also rather surprises me that 'Romeo and Juliette', young sex, older men, younger women, is such a taboo writing subject, not just here, but most places.

But then, thas Hollywood, I guess, and anything goes there, eh?

JBJ, I read most all of your posts and it seems you have quite an interest in your family history...I think that is admirable, although I think maybe you exaggerate now and then? Entirely forgiveable...

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "taboo". Are you referring to age of consent laws and their existence? May-December romances (not exactly taboo considering how many mainstream films have been made on the subject)?

I guess for a lot of people "He's old enough to be her father" has a certain "ick" factor (and of course, for some it has a certain "Hot!" factor). The assumption is that romantic relationships are ideally a partnership and when there is a significant age gap (15-20+ years) there's no way there will ever be a remotely even power dynamic.

Of course, there's also the general trend of older, successful men "trading in" their wives for a younger model every decade or so as long as he can get it up. Again, it's not really "taboo", as it happens all the time.

As for Romeo, while he was a little older than Juliette, the modern equivalent would be a guy in his late 20s being engaged to a 19 or 20 year old college girl.
