It might have been written tongue in cheek but no one I know would recognise such behaviour as being normal for visiting our country relations (or our own country estates)...

"Snog" sounds a whole lot dirtier than just kissing. I was SO disappointed when I found out that's all it was. Harry Potter wasn't half so interesting after that.
