Hi All,

Well, I didn't realise this forum was here until a few days ago, and I love the work everyone is producing.
I'm about to go and splash some serious cash on a Nikon D90 in my bid to start photographing professionally, but I thought I'd post up a few of the pics I took with my little handheld Canon Ixus55 for you guys.
Currently its mostly flowers and a few wildlife shots, but eventually I hope to be posting shots with amateur and pro models.
Anyway, hope you all enjoy.

Thanks, femme.... that was taken about two feet away from a septic tank lol
Amazing what nature can spout out.

I'm gonna be going out and doing some more today, but I'm gonna try and shoot them against a white background, see how they come out, so hopefully I'll be posting some more pics later.

Nice!!! - God, I love flowers!

What are using to edit with? Photoshop? You should go look at Tolyk's thread he is great and has been so helpful to me.

lol... they're unedited.
Just straight as I took them... and I reduced the file size...thats it.
Teaching myself to use photoshop just now, actually.
*rummages around the PC for that pdf on photoshop cs4 for photographers* :D

And cheers for the tip... I will do.

Okay, here's three that I took yesterday, and I meant to post them last night, but I was too tired to resize them :D

This was me experimenting with a few flowers I grabbed outside, just to see what they'd look like against different backgrounds.
The rose one is deliberately over-exposed, because I wanted everything behind it to white-out, and the light to come through the petals, especially because its on the edge of its existance... I kinda like that :)

Okay, a slightly unusual one, but I figured I'd pop it up anyway.... I'm trying to get the perspectives right, but I'm not quite happy with it... will have to take more I think :)

Quite like this one... was a wild flower next to the petrol station as I got off the bus today. Quick snap and there it is.
Feel free to comment folks....

i dont normaly like pictures of flowers(reminds me of gcse and thoes dodgy ikea prints everyone has on their wall), but the last one is beautiful...the light, colours and composition really really work!:D x

Damn good.
What camera/lens did you use, and HOW ?

Thanks... um, well I used a Canon Ixus55... basically a 5yr old handheld digital pocket camera, with a 50 ISO, no flash and set on digital macro.
Handheld, and it took a couple of shots coz it was a little windy and next to a busy road, but I'm pretty pleased with it.

The only thing I've done with the image in terms of editing is turned the colour saturation up just a tiny fraction because it was really bright and it was leaching some of the colour out with the light.

Simple kit, I guess... still waiting to go buy my Nikon D90 and huge shopping list of lenses and accessories

Glad you liked it though.. thankyou :rose:

Thankyou :rose:

I'm not a fan of flowers myself either, having been a long-term hayfever sufferer, but I'm kinda getting into them due to the amount of pictures I'm taking... practice makes perfect and all that.... or so the theory goes lol
:D

Just a lily I snapped earlier.... I liked the drop of moisture on it, so I thought I'd share :)

Very nice. Those flowers shoots do suck you in.:)
I am thinking of doing more with the lilies myself. The white and pink ones this time. And I have been messing with the diffused glow in Photoshop. Really liking the soft effects it gives me.
