Well today the wife and I finally finished cleaning out the storage area. (That's another $100.00 + a month we won't be spending.) Two large boxes and assorted other items were loaded into the car and driven home.
One of the boxes was still taped closed, the tape was yellowed with age. When we opened it we found everything in it was wrapped in Newspapers from Cape Cod and dated nine years ago. It seems we never opened this box when we arrived down here. What could be in there?
All sorts of odds and ends we had forgotten about were unvieled. We found a box of pictures from when I was in Elementry School as well as when I lived in Europe. (Hell I found pictures of my oldest nieces first Birthday and she's a C.P.A., married and has kids of her own now.) Talk about a treasure trove of memories.
Then about halfway down the box I found a smallish package wrapped in newspaper. When I unwrapped this I just sat there staring for a minute. Where in the world had these come from? I recognised all three items but,,,,,
The first two items are fountain pens. One is a Waterman and the other is a silver Shaefer. I know I didn't buy them as I would never pay that kind of money for a pen.
The last item is an old brass Compass with the letters U.S.C.E. stamped into the cover. Now that I remembered. It used to sit in my fathers basement on a shelf. In fact that was the compass my father used to teach me Orientering.
How in the world did I come into possesion of these three items? I honestly can't remember. With that question in mind I wrote a quick E-Mail to my father asking him about it, if he remembered anything about giving them to me as well as asking him if he wants them back. (If he does then I'll pack them up and send them north.)

Oh and one other thing I found in that big box was one I well remembered. It is an old Tasco Micro-scope my father gave me when I was in High School. It's still in mint condition in it's wooden box.
