50 State overall Freedom Ranking...

Get a clue...I'm not defending the last administration...dude. Just saying the messiah isn't the dude to hang a hat on to solve any problems but his...expanding the scope of government to wrap you in a nice comfy blanket that you can pull over you head when the bogyman comes to get you and get your cake and cookies from.

You need to quit watching Glen Beck and his minions over there at FIXED NEWS....That messiah tag is a dead giveaway....

Barack Hossein Obama is the legally elected President of these United States of America. He wasn't my first choice but he is my president and I'll support him until he gives me cause not to.
Your boy Bush left the bus in a ditch. Obama is trying to get it out. Lead, follow, or get outta the way....

Thank you for that excerpt, Zeb, well worth remembering as is the work itself, for many reasons.

Musing here, as I do not recall, but this concept concerning Democracy in general, seems appropriate in the here and now, it seems.

Although I am much maligned for my opinion, women in the voting mix and in office, have pretty much legislated feminine issues and thus corrupted the intent of an independent democracy serving ideals codified in our founding documents.

But, closer to the point, it seems the inevitable conclusion to democratic rule is that sooner or later those in power will corrupt the concept to serve themselves. Perhaps we are fortunate to have survived this long, with the social democrats nipping at our heels, and I have no doubt that revolution is and will be the only means to regain individual freedom.

I am currently viewing a History Channel program, "Russia, Land of the Tsars", and revolution, the advent of the Industrial Revolution and change afoot in Europe, led to a great change in Mother Russia. A very interesting series if you haven't seen it.

Amicus

Once again you show your misogynist ass for all to see......You are so enlightened! You claim to have daughters and that you've had relationships with women but it's hard to believe given your attitude......And you claim that I'm negative? as well as an alt. Right! You're probably BFW's alt.....

So, how many guns do you have in your gun rack, Slyc? :D

Pistols don't fit in a gun rack. ;) Besides, I don't even have a truck.

Abusing non-Texans isn't quite the same thing as "being proud of your state."

I don't recall that happening anywhere else in my travels, not even Alabama or New York.

Ah, but being pulled over outside Austin qualifies you as an expert in how inhospitable Texas is to Californians. I see.

Okay, so you had a bad experience in Texas. I had several in California. Not enough to make me hate the state, because I understand that people can be mean and selfish anywhere, but enough to insure I'd never want to live in Torrance/LA again.

But if it makes you comfortable to view Texans as abusive rednecks, by all means have at it.

Best thing about Texas on my trip through a few years ago was that you could drive as fast as you wanted.

And on another topic, I wonder how some people survive a Democratic administration without popping a vessel...and others a Republican...over and over. ;)

Another boner there lipz...Bush wasn't my boy...didn't vote for him, but then again I didn't vote for PrezBo either. Nor did I vote for oWlGore, the greatest hoaxer of all time.

To hear DRAGONLISP tell it, everyone voted for Dubya but him/her.

The same could be said for just about any state you go to. I lived for six months in Torrance and saw no less racism there. I'll grant you that Texans are very proud of their state -- we have a lot to be proud of. And a lot to be shameful of, of course. There's no shortage of pros and cons anywhere you go, in Texas, California, or New Hampshire.

I have to say, though, that I find it more amusing than anything else how quickly non-Texans are to attack Texas. ;)

I have to agree with you. Attacking Texas seems to be a team sport.

I could judge all Coloradians by the state troopers who pulled over my husband for speeding and then proceeded to search our family van, leaving 3 children standing on the side of the road watching all of their belongings being treated disrespectfully.

or

Judge all Alabamians by the cops who accused me of prostitution when I stopped at a roadside park to sleep on an all night drive from Texas to Atlanta.

or

Judge all Oklahomans by the cops who pulled over 2 19 year old college students downtown one night after a Univ of Tulsa basketball game. The boy was a young black man whose father had let him drive the Jag back to school after Thanksgiving as a reward for making straight A's on his mid-term (back when the school sent the grades to the parents). The girl was a TU Golden Girl who had danced at the game, and caught a ride home with a dear friend. Both were hauled out of the vehicle, and despite the fact that the address on the boy's driver's license and car registration were the same, and other evidence that he was driving his dad's car, he was handcuffed while his car was searched. The girl was treated oh-so-nicely, until they found out she wasn't kidnapped, but there of her own free will, and OMG, dating the young man.

Ignorance and bigotry comes in all shapes, sizes, genders, sexual orientations, and yes, from every state. I won't condemn any group for the stupidity of a few of their members.

I may not be proud of every Texan, but I am proud of my state. Most of the people I know here are incredibly friendly and open-minded. MOST believe that we all have the right to our own beliefs.

Yeah, I wouldn't step foot in any of those COAT states. (Any State starting with a T, C, A, or O). Gotta watch out for those COAT states. Just drive around 'em.

Maybe it's just that some here find it curiously convenient that you run out of patience now. It may not be your intention, but you choose the very same time to come out of the woodworks and bang your chest about saving your country from the corrupt fatcats at the top of the foodchain as the hordes of faux born-again right wing constitutionalists, who were quite content gagging on Washington's collective balls until, oh a little over hundred days ago. Hmm, I wonder what happened then.

Like I said. You may not be like that. But that's how it sounds.

Ummm....dude, if you think that I am a Bush fan....you haven't paid attention. I have no use for either party.

In fact, I keep chomping at the bit to start my own. Still thinking of that, more and more these days.

And read up on what a Constitutionalist is before judging us all or linking us with a pseudo-Constitutionalist like Bush and company. A real Constitutionalist is someone more like Ron Paul or myself.

Ron Paul isn't spouting near the nonsense you are......

He served in Nam, did you?

What nonsense.....I got a little rash or venomous the other day, but that's just me on a bad day. A really bad day.

Ron Paul and I both essentially agree on many issues. A Constitutional Republic with a return to the ideals of the Framers. In a nutshell. He might not have put his foot in his mouth recently, but that won't stop people from bashing him anyway.

No one can bash him more than you by putting yourself and him in the same sentence.....

What's that have to do with the price of condoms in China?

I was fortunate enough not to be stationed there. I was however stationed in Korea. With flights to Thailand and back. So I did have to fly over Nam.

Did you serve in Nam? Lipz?

Yet, so many do. I think they find it convenient.

Stupidity and bigotry are racial traits (as in, human racial traits) and neither limited to, nor increased by, the region in which someone lives. I'm surrounded by idiots, I admit. :p But then, so is everyone else.

I'm proud to live in Texas, and in particular, San Antonio. There's an incredible wealth of history here, not much of it flattering to any particular group of people, but nonetheless interesting, revealing, and entertaining. Do I consider myself 'Texan?' Not really. I was born and raised in Germany, after all, and never stepped foot on real American soil until I was sixteen. Still, when I think of all the places in the USA I've lived -- Texas, California, Florida, New York, Wisconsin, Washington, New Mexico -- of all of them, I'd rather be in Texas.

I was in Virgina once or was it twice, the night that it happened is a little fuzzy. Sweet girl though.

:D
