last Wednesday, and I was up and walking the same day, and working out (lightly) 5 days later!
I only have one little hole in my leg.
Anyone have any experience with this they'd like to share?

Otherwise, I just think it's amazing.

I know a few people who had it done. They rocked before they had it done.
They rocked as for as long as the other stuff held out. Party, baby! :grin

I'm sorry to hear that, but I'm glad it saved your life.

Thank you and KR

Good to hear it is going well for you!
I actually worked out 2 days before the "procedure"!
I believe staying in shape really helps.
I didn't have a heart attack and it wasn't an emergency, but I probably WOULD have had one if I hadn't found this problem: a 90% blocked secondary artery and a 60% blocked one. They only fixed the 90% one, so I DO have to be careful now.

Camille, inviting pics like your AV and the ones in your profile give me encouragement to get better.:D
6 years between stories? Wow, got to check it out...

Yeah. I'm not terribly creative, so it takes me a while.

Sending good vibes your way.

Warning!

No, it wasn't a "heart attack ack ack ack ack ack ack" (Thks for the song:))

I only had pain in the center of my chest, between my nipples, over my heart area.
It was not real bad, and came and went, not constant, and was worse after doing something physical (But not right away), and always hurt for about 10 minutes when I would lie down.

My friend thought it was heartburn or acid reflux.
I thought I had pulled a small muscle.

So, My Dr. had me do a treadmill stress test, just to be sure.
I failed it. A week later, I had an angioplasty which showed up the two blocked arteries. About 6-7 weeks after that, I got the angioplasty/stent.

So, please be aware of any heart-related symptoms and see your doctor right away, even if you don't think it is serious.
If this helps even one person, I will sleep better knowing I helped someone else.

Now, I'm much more concerned about the back surgery comming up. Even if they can do it arthroscopically, I'm not looking forward to it. If anyone wants to know about bad disks, nerve pain, and sciatica, I'm about an expert now.:( They had to do this first, of course. And I'll have to be off Plavix and asprin before the back surgery.

But I can see the bright light at the end of the tunnel and am optomistic that I'll be better than I have been for years afterward after these things are fixed.

Wow, magicfingers, you are lucky as hell to have gotten that spotted and fixed before you had a heart attack.

Verified, but not as much fun as a TBP. Were you awake when you had it done?

I did that treadmill stress test last summer because I like to make sure I don't have stuff I hear about on the tv. Last year people were keeling over from "the silent killer" so of course I didn't like the sound of that and got the test.

I was perfectly fine, but almost had a heart attack running on that damn machine. I was sore for a week!

Talk about out of shape.

What's TBP? Total ByPass?
Yes, I was awake and alert on a mild sedative. I had to make an important decision wether to have an old metal stint put in or a new type. I chose the old metal one so I can get off Plavix sooner to have the back surgery.
It couldn't be decided until the Dr. saw the blockage and gave me the odds. It it was a large area, I would have had to have the new type stent and wait a YEAR to come off Plavix.

They go in through a small hole in my crotch into the femoral artery, up to the heart with catheters, scopes, ballons, stents all shoved up it. Took a while for it to stop bleeding afterward because the attending Dr. wanted to use sutures instead of a collagen plug - mumbled something about not liking collagen floating around in my viens.
OBTW- The resident Dr was a Be-U-Ti-ful and very intelligent young Asian lady. This has nothing to do with anything, but it made the 7hr recovery room stay more bearable every time she came to look at my crotch area to see if it had stopped "Oozing" as they said. Could not move at all for 7 hours, flat on my back.

Worst part was the "Condom/caheter" they super-glued onto my penis, balls, hairs and anything else down there. Took about to 20 minutes to remove that thing. I got that off about 8 hours after the procedure, and could get up to go to the bathroom and walk around after that.

OK, this was too much info. But if it helps anyone, I'm happy to share.

I was in pretty good shape, but they wanted to get me up to 145 pulse rate.
I had to work up to level 9!!! It was about a 40degree incline.
I knew I had failed it when the intern read the EKG and grabbed the nitro-glycerin to spray under my tongue.

That would be a Triple By Pass, nine inch scar down the middle, four punture wounds below the chest cavity, one cut along side the knee, don't cough, don't sneeze for the next week or two, cool shit.

The stent closed up during my surgery

Don't get a Chromium stent! I wish I had got the other kind and waited for the back surgery. I know now that the heart's even more important than the back!
And the second back surgery in 2011 for a triple fusion was no fun at all.:(
