I tried this on the General Board-- hope it will work better here ;)

Are any other women SOOOO fucking turned on by Shane (Katherine Moening) on "The L Word"??

There's just something about her. That....je ne sais quoi. It's like she's one of the old-school male movie stars, but in a woman's body. I have a TOTAL crush on her. I've never had a lesbian experience before, but I would go for her in 1/10000000 of a second if she was willing!

I've never seen even one ep of the show, and i don't know anything about the characters-- but she looks like she'd have some of the characterisics I love most in men anti-heroes.

What, Misty? I would really appreciate your point of view here...

Well...I don't want to start a thang...but

It's a bunch of little things..

First of all...her hair.

Jesus fucking christ..get a hair brush...

Then, it's like...is she supposed to be the lez Fonz?

I don't think she's cool at all.

And ....

if she's supposed to sooo fucking cool and supposed to have experienced life on the outside looking inside....

She's seems pretty judgemental.

Just thinking about one episode that ( and I can't remeber the specifics)...that she and all the others seemed to look down on someone....apparently they were not "up" to their standards.

So, if this chick was supposed to be "cool" and come from an underpreviledge background, and just scrapping by....who the fuck is she to look down on someone?

Again..I merely speaking of the character...

What makes him cool, and Shane a wannabe? Do you think a woman could be a believable Fonze?

(remember, Fonzie was a comedy character-- Shane is, I suppose, a more human, flawed character in a soap opera)

*(Blackbird, I'm totally hijacking your thread, so sorry!)*

No problem! This is really really interesting. I suppose when I was talking about Shane, I really meant the actress, Kate Moening. I haven't seen all the episodes of The L Word, but from what I HAVE seen, Shane seems rather flawed. And a bit off. So I understand where everyone's coming from :)

Yes...Kate is fucking hot....Shane...IMO...not hot....rather repulsive.

I have the first four seasons on DVD so I guess I count as an L word addict.
(and yes, I do own a "I killed Jenny T-Shirt" :D)

I kinda agree with Misty as to Kate's "Shane" character cuz she is just a bit too over done for my taste. Her "dramas" seem just a bit too forced, ya know? I think they were/are trying for "rough around the edges", but didn't/don't quite carry it off.

As for Kate herself = UBER HOT!

and I like "Shanes" hair too, cuz it looks a lot like Amy's
(actually Kate and Amy have simular facial, coloration and body type too so I KNOW I'm transferring...)

P.S. and yes... they BOTH need a brush, but good freakin luck, I've been trying to get Amy to change her hair for the last five years and have gotten nowhere!!!

Stella Darlin, you have already said you haven't seen any episodes.

Maybe you should watch some...then ask questions.

Not trying to be an ass...(just comes naturally).:D
I don't care about her, I want your reactions.

If you were warning some new woman into the community, and she said "damn that woman is hot" and you saw it was Shane, what would you tell her to warn her off?

I'm straight...and I have to say....Shanes the main reason I've watched all 6 seasons of The L Word. But I think my girlcrush started when the actress was on the one and only season of American Summer....which was on the wb or cw or whatever. lol her character in that show was a girl...who was pretending to be a boy in prep school. omg her dorm roomate was a hottie and she ended up crushing on him...and he kinda liked her/him and questioned his sexuality. So...i was decieved from the get go!

anyways....i don't think Shanes character was judgemental ( Bett & Tina...yeah) Shane just loved women...a LOT of women. And I agree with blackbird..if the opportunity was there...i doubt I'd hesitate,

Its kinda funny someone asked if she was "the fonze" of the l word...cause they alluded to that..in a humerous manner...in one show.

k..i'm done gushing.

Honestly, I don't really find Kate attractive. She is the one everybody swoons over from the show, but I think that's because androgyny is popular, not because Kate in particular is so attractive. Don't get me wrong, I like androgyny as much as anyone else (k.d. lang's "Drag" photo shoots are HOT), but I don't think that Kate's version of androgyny is necessarily that attractive. We've just been drilled to think "androgyny is sexy, therefore I like the androgynous one."

Personally, I find Laurel Holloman (Tina) to be the sexiest from that show.

I was talking to Mr. Omega this morning. He said that he's been with women who have that 'Gamine' look, twice and he couldn't do it. And trust me, it's not because they look masculine, I've seen him with men-- and with me!

After thinking about it for a while, he said that it was because they both looked like boys-- kids, and kids don't turn him on. And I have to say, these pictures look an awful lot like my 17 year old son

But aside from that, I have a character that I'm writing that gets into some of the same kinds of situations, so anyone's reactions-- good or bad-- are so helpful to me, she said batting her big brown eyes hopefully!:D

SHANE and LWORD

CAN'T SAY I WAS ATTRACTIVE TO ANY OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS ON THE LWORD...I DID LIKE SOME OF THE GUEST STARS.... MINOR CHARACTERS... Shane... was a wanna be BUTCH.... Couldn't really relate much to that show....Being a lesbian of color...it felt so much like fiction..a soap opera... not well written..

Yes, absolutely agree with you 100%. I couldn't relate to the show at all. And you're right, Shane was an attempt to include the butch archetype in the show, and it failed miserably. Shane was "the butch one" but she was not A BUTCH.

Shane is gorgeous. She's not my type, per say, but I can definitely see the appeal. My girlfriend adores her. She's just got this really sexy confidence.
