We've been seeing what you want,
You've got us cornered right now
Falling asleep from our vanity
May cost us our lives

For centuries we, the shifters have hidden amongst the flocks. As the decades went by most of our breeds diminished. We let the Lupines become the keepers of the flocks. They are the most numerous of us remaining, six species remain of our kin.

I hear them getting closer
Their howls are sending chills down my spine
Time is running out now,
They're coming down the hills from behind

They grew vain and arrogant. The lupines made a decision "for the good of the flocks". They could be the only remaining breed.

When we start killing
It's all coming down right now
From the night that we've created
I wanna be awakened somehow
(I wanna be awakened right now)

When we start killing
It all will be falling down
From the hell that we're in
All we are is fading away
When we start killing

We the five remaining breeds are now making a desperate stand against our foolish bretheren. They are many to our few, but our few are some of the strongest. The Felines in their many subspecies, quick of claw, the keepers of secrets. The Ursines, the heart and soul, the feeders of the flocks, sacrificing their numbers long ago to keep the flocks alive through the long cold.

Along side of these are the Coyotero, the tricksters, the harbingers of fallen pride, tricksters all. The Corvin, messengers and speakers of tales, the sky is theirs to rule.

And lastly are the Gatorkings, the keepers of memory, dreaming of when they were the Dragonkings. They are the least in number, less than ten remain in the world.

We've been searching on and on
But there's no trace to be found
It's like they all have just vanished
But I know they're around

We seek the key to turn the tides from out extinction at the hands of the Lupines. An object fell into their hands long ago bringing a madness to their ruling caste, it's destruction is our savior.

I feel them getting closer
The howls are sending chills down my spine
Time is running out now
They're coming down the hills from behind

When we start killing
It's all coming down right now
From the night that we've created
I wanna be awakened somehow
(I wanna be awakened right now)

When we start killing
It all will be falling down
From the hell that we're in
All we are is fading away
When we start killing
When we start killing!

I feel them getting closer
The howls are sending chills down my spine
Time is running out now
They're coming down the hills from behind!

It is an ongoing war, one we are losing by inches. A shadow war out of the sight of the flocks.

The sun is rising
The screams have gone
Too many have fallen
Few still stand tall
Is this the ending
Of what we've begun?
Will we remember
What we've done wrong?

There are rumors that we are closing in on the object. There are dreams of our final battle, did one of our own number cause this madness in the Lupines?

When we start killing
It's all coming down right now
From the night that we've created
I wanna be awakened somehow
(I wanna be awakened right now)

When we start killing
It all will be falling down
From the hell that we're in
All we are is fading away
When we start killing
When we start killing!

Who will rise up among us to battle this, the madness of our own folly?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a sketchy idea of where this will go. It is just sketchy enough that the players may influence it as we go one.
Acceptable players in this are the shifters and a very select few of "the Flocks" who have been drawn into this war. The Lupines are primarily antagonists, but there are a few who may be more receptive to the other shifters or outright shunned by their own kind for crimes against the Keepers of the Flock.
Please PM me with concepts and after approval post them here.:) I hope this sounds as fun to others as it does to me.
i've writen with you enough Wylde that I know you do good work.
(plus you just ooze sexy)
any further thoughts on how your gonna expand on this?
antagonist gonna be the wolves (kinda like Black Spirals or straight outta the first movie)
any human hunters or just other shifter races fighting to survive and to keep humanity ignorant?
PM or respond here.
Thank you Ab. I am going to make a post for each of the species of Shifters including a bit to twist this all up a bit. I am hoping to make each of the species a bit less like the WoD and a bit more of my own take on them:).
I don't think the humans will be coming in as antagonists quite yet, but they may after a while. I will however be allowing a small amount of the flock into things.
The Corvin.
Ours is the way of carrion. There are so many stories that the dead tell, or that you can find in the trash, including what really happened to the Lupines. Maybe some year we'll tell that tale. Maybe the day we know we're safe to tell it.
Aside from the drama of the tale, we're the ones the others call on when they need intel on who's where and why. We carry the messages for the ground crawlers, except for the cats. They're on their own, damn them and their secrets. They think we're just good for information and maybe a snack. We think they aren't as trustworthy as others do.
The bears are a good sort in a laid back southerner kind of way. Compared to the rest of us they're really cupcakes, least till you piss them off. Then look out. Hard to believe they did that just so the humans could survive.
The Coyotes are fun to party with as long as you're not the one they're there to teach. If they have you in their sights stay in the air as long as you can and get as far from them as you can.
The lizards. Their dreams of the time of the great Lizardkings make them kind of fun. To imagine that anyone could mix up a reptile with a dinosaur. Makes one laugh. Look past their tempers and be straight up with them and they'll be fair with you. They love hearing our tales. Makes them have good dreams I guess.
That leaves us with the Lupines. Most of the lower downs can be okay, it's the crazy higher ups you need to watch out for. They weren't always like this, honest. Wasn't till they got their European paws onto North American soil that they went nuts. Some say the Coyotes did it to them. Don't believe that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Corvin are Werecrows. Capable of flight in any of their forms except for the humanform. They are the Newspaper, 7 and 11 o'clock news, and MTV all in one dark package. They live for stories and telling them.

They're not combatants really, but they make for very useful messengers and spies.

The Ursines.

Some say our time is past. Others say we have failed our duty to the flocks. We feel otherwise. Back when the world was a different place than it is now there had been a great freeze over the world, and we watched as the Flocks (smaller then than they are now.) began to starve for a lack of prey to hunt and no plants could grow for them to eat. Our Elders met to decide how best to save our flocks and a grave decision was made. We began to volunteer ourselves to be slain in our great forms and the flocks could use our meat to eat and our furs, much larger than most bears, to wear to keep the cold at bay.

The other shifters thought us fools, but our flocks managed to survive and distance themselves from the rest. A few of the Lupine flocks made the same crossing and even then in their vanity the wolves would have allowed their flocks to die, but for our sacrifice. There were two other breeds to make the crossing with us. The Coyotero, who honored our sacrifice with any help they could give, and the great cats. The felines were much different than they are nowadays as well. They had great fangs then, and they to a lesser extent made the same sacrifice we did.

The other two breeds could not accept that the wolves would stand back and do naught to save their flocks and in a rage slew every shifter wolf in the migration. It wouldn't be until the white man came to North America that a wolf shifter would set foot in what would become America. The Corvin also joined us in North America in a large quantity at around that time. There had been a smaller contingent that colonized with the Vikings when they set foot on the continent.

To the best of our knowledge the Kings had been on the continent for some time before us hiding in the warmer regions. All we know is that as we went south they were there already.

Today the cats and we, the bears, are the main front against the lupines. We would rather not fight but the time for peace is long past. We may have been responsible for this war but none are sure.

Yeah, although note I didn't add the bit about the gift to bring them back from the dead. Here they made the ultimate sacrifice for their humans.

The Coyotero.

We're the ones most of our "family" don't want to see. They like being all proud in their "responsibility" to their flocks. Yeah yeah, blah blah blah. We take care of our flocks just like they do, but you don't see us getting all big headed about it do you? Nope, that's because our job is to keep the rest from getting too full of themselves.

We're the S.O.B.'s that come to town when someone needs a lesson in humility. They all think we're just here to play games and pull pranks on the rest. They're right, but there's a point to it the majority of the time. The rest and especially amongst ourselves it's how we hone our skills.

Most of our numbers are of Mexican or Amerind decent, although some of us are of Gypsy decent. Go on now, make the flock jokes you know you want to. The Indians respected us, made us part of their belief systems. Knew what we were about too. Go on, they have the best handle on what we Coyo's are about. Read up.

The rest? Well, I'll start with the ones that put up with us the best. The big old bears are good folk. Not too often that we have to come to them as teachers, they're pretty laid back that way. Pretty messed up what they did back in the old cold days. Makes them some to respect. The ones that harp on those days are the ones that know us the best and dislike us the most.

We don't mess with the few lizards that are left. Too stiff and hard to get into the heads of. More than one Coyote met the end of their days trying to teach a lizard when there was no reason for it. I did say they're hard to read didn't I?

The Crows are pretty cool to party with, they always have a story or three to share. They're number three on our hit parade. They can be some proud lil birdies.

The cats are second from the top in our business. Depending on the subspecies, they can be as bad as the wolves. The bigger the breed, the more prideful the cat. The North American species are okay. Down to earth sorts they are. The African and Asian breeds can't say they ever let their flocks make them into Kittyyaki like the American breeds.

I could go on about the last of our cousins for weeks. The big old, proud old wolves. Grumpy, arrogant, and downright mean. They get the world's worst lessons from us and they have an open bounty on us for it. Don't ever let the wolves catch you. They like Coyote chew toys.

Very much interested in the Corvins! Crow is one of my totem animals (the other being raccoon, go figure) Would love to try one of those!

I'm interested, if you're still going to start.

Do you have the write up for the felines handy?

I'm not sure what this idea originates from, but I'd have to say I'm very intrigued by it. I have a history of experience playing shape shifters of all sorts, and I know I wont slow anyone down especially with a reference to go off of. So, I was wondering if i may take part in this story?

Wow, this idea sounds awesome, i'm in if u would like another person... if that's ok
