Who watches the watchmen

Added timestamps to my posts, added some sort of chronology.

Lunar, hope you don't mind the dates I've chosen, I can fix them if you want. I just have a particular affection for 10/13 and 10/14, and I assumed the twenty-year-gap was a literal one rather than approximate...

My posts now kind of jump around a bit. A is on the bench snarking at well-meaning vaguely intelligent horndog earlier in the same day in which she later fights those Knot Tops. And then later the same night, that's when Nightwatch engages her in reciprocal conversation.

Thought this might come in handy, extra background material, extra insight.

Works best if you have a copy of the graphic novel handy to check panels and such, but also presents timelines, terminology, technology, and motifs from the original tale.

According to Wikipedia, October 13, 2005 was a Thursday.

And the 14th, ergo, a Friday.

College-boy invited A to that party just in time. :: laughing at the coincidence ::

D'you see, though, the twisted humour involved in this song?

Irony in the classic sense.

A's not waiting around for someone else to save the world, she's getting up to her elbows in the muck and she's doing it herself. And she's certainly not waiting around for some idealised myth of a y-chromosome to make her life complete. Like a Rorschach blot, she's symmetrical, complete unto herself.

Actually I associated it only with the original Rorschach. Connecting it to "A" allows me to forego any future vomiting, so thanks for that. :)

Happy to be of service! XD

Still, um, got some mouthwash here for you just in case.

I am cool with the time stamps. Sorry I have been scarce, especially on AIM. Aim for some reason is eating a ton of resources and I have several gigs of comic books that I was trying to download. However, for the time being they are down, so I will bring AIM back on line.

jumping in. Bio approved via PM.

Abilities: 8 years in the Marines, 6 years in Marine Force Recon. Trained in infiltration and survival. BA in Criminal Justice. Fluent in English & Farsi. Can understand some Russian and German.

Background: Adam is the result of a Super Soldier program based on some captured intel from Veidt's company after he went into hiding. After five years, through multiple tests the Govt. gave the green light for human testing. Personnel were picked for the project and told that they were being selected for a special counter terrorism unit being formed in Alaska. 25 people were selected to be in this test group, and Adam was #24.

Weeks of tests and exams followed, and the numbers of the subjects dwindled as failure after failure happened. The lucky ones died. Two subjects mutated into freakish creatures that died soon after their bodies shifted into their new forms, and two appeared to have no change, subjects 16 and 24.

A few days later the changes took place.

In the night during a storm the other survivor, Randall Markanne, began going into convulsions. As the medical personnel franticly tried to restrain him he changed. His body thickened, crackling with metabolic changes. His limbs grew, flesh toughened and scales erupted over his skin. His hair fell out and his face changed. What emerged from the carnage of that room was no longer human. It was primordial, a H.R. Geiger Sleestack born in a Wes Craven nightmare.

It was Death, the newest model with scaled skin, sharpened claws and teeth, and a warped human mind to get it all the ripe red flesh and blood it could gorge upon.

The projects first success, and it was eating it's proud parents.

The creature, for Randall was reduced to a passenger to the saurian mind that had emerged from the transformation, moved throughout the facility until it reached the other survivor. The creature once, once human, now so much more, paused, scenting the air with a forked tongue.

Behind this door was a foe, a challenger to it's hunting ground.

Adam awoke seconds before the door blew inward from 600 pounds of saurian fury. Leaping across the room he could make out the thing that was once a man as it obliterated his bed and plowed into the wall behind it. Everything had this strange grayish glow. it was dark, there were no lights on, but he could see the room clearly. He could see the monster in the room.

His reaction was to bare his teeth with a low growl rumbling through his chest.

The monster righted itself and lunged again at Adam, claws cutting a path of red along his ribs, but Adam answered with a chair across the creatures face. In the moments it was dazed, he was out the door and down the hallway.

Blood and bodies littered the hallway, horrifying a man hardened by battle and death. With the angry roar of the creature behind him, Adam made his way to where he remembered a exit was, to find the security door locked.

He pounded the door, fear and anger racing through his bloodstream, igniting nerves and firing neurons. His body felt like it was on fire, skin crawling, mind awash in a release of energy.

And with a howl of pain and rage, he too changed, becoming more than merely human.

The wolf inside him, that which made it possible for him to hunt men, to take a life, to protect his pack, the tribe of men he was sworn to protect. that wolf was given flesh, and that flesh was his, powered by forbidden sciences created by a man who had killed millions.
Adams clothes ripped from his body as it grew and expands. Thick black fur erupted from his pores, arms lengthening, head changing into a lupine mask. Claws emerging from his fingers and toes, a tail grew from the base of his spine.

Legends from before written record had talked of men that when the Moon was full turned into beasts. These were folk stories, tales told from the early times of man to keep little children afraid of the night.

Through the magic of science, two nightmares were given flesh that night. And nightmares, like many monsters of legend, do not suffer invaders into their territory.

A reptilian hiss met a lupine roar, and two nightmares met inside a house of Holy Science, with no quarter asked, and none offered.

Days later forensic specialists would be sorting out what happened on this day, but all they could say with any definite certainty is that two beings of incredible power met, fought, and when the walls gave way escaped into the Alaskan wilderness, both leaving evidence of great wounds, but neither able to be found after the torrential rains of that night.

Powers: In the most basic sense Adam can be described as a Werewolf born of science. In his human form he has a higher than normal degree of strength and speed. His hearing is keener than normal man, and he can track a person by scent, tho it is not as well as a dog can. his metabolism is increased so that he eats about twice as much as a normal man of his size and physique, but this allows him to heal quickly. A cut can mend in minutes, a broken bone in a day. He also has certain lupine traits, but he works hard to keep those in check.

Adam can also change all the way over to a black timber wolf, with all the normal abilities of a wolf, but with his human mind awake and aware of what is going on.

The most powerful form given to him by science is a hybrid of wolf and man. 9' tall, 500 pounds of muscle, tooth and claw. He has a wolfs senses, a mans reasoning, and his rage is much much harder to keep in check in this form. He is strong enough to throw a small car, faster than any living man alive, can track by scent and his claws can rip through Kevlar. His metabolism is such that he can heal from most any wound in moments, though true regeneration is not a gift he was given. In this form he still retains his human mind, but the wolf tugs at it equally, and it is hard to contain his anger if it is loosed in this form.

When Adam woke from his fight with the reptilian shifter he was disoriented. Over time he learned how to shift between his two other forms (which takes time and hurts like hell, the faster he changes the more it hurts).
He stayed in the wilds for a long while, then slowly made his way back to the world of man. Adam has been living the life of a nomad for three years now, and the U.S.government thinks he is dead. He currently has forged documents with the name Adam Carson, and has come to New York to see if the city can offer him something the wilderness cannot.

He works odd jobs, and sometimes he goes hunting.

There is prey in New York, and those that hunt people for profit or pleasure, they too sometimes find themselves hunted by something much much more primal than they.

After brief discussion with Vic, went back and edited post #16 to finish up conversation between Rorschach and Nightwatch.

Sorry for unexpected retcon. Heh.

Decided mutually that was good closing line, not much more to say after that.

Gnarls Barkley - "Crazy"

I remember when
I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that place
Even your emotions have an echo in so much space

And when you're out there without care
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much

Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Possibly

And I hope that you are
Having the time of your life
But think twice
That's my only advice

Come on now, who do you
Who do you, who do you, who do you think you are?
Ha ha ha, bless your soul
You really think you're in control?

Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me

My heroes had the heart
To lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember
Is thinking, I want to be like them

Ever since I was little
Ever since I was little
It looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done

But maybe I'm crazy
Maybe you're crazy
Maybe we're crazy
Probably
