This morning as we were getting ready to head out my wife tripped and fell as she checked to make sure the back door was locked.
Unfortunately when she fell she fell into the doorway then to the floor. An awkward(sp) fall to say the least. As soon as she hit the floor she rolled over holding her face with blood flowing over her hands into her lap.
I made it from the front door to where she was without seeming to move. To say I was concerned would be an understatement. You see I hadn't seen her fall, I just heard her fall. In that corner we have a short book case and I was concerned she had hit the corner with her face.
When I got her hands away from her face I was able to see the blood was coming from her nose, which was a bit of a reliefe. I peeled out of my T-Shirt and had her use that to staunch the bleeding as I checked her out. There didn't seem to be any other injuries so I got her to her feet and out of the doorway.
Once I had her where I could check her out I started working at stopping the bleeding as well as checking for damage. To say I was relieved at what I found would be an understatement.
She has some slight swelling across the bridge of her nose but it isn't broken. She also has some slight swelling across the forehead just above the left eyebrow. There is also a small scratch along the bridge of her nose, I gather from her sunglasses. There is no sign of Cuncusion. (She now has a little bit of bruising below the right eye, much less than I expected considering how easily she bruises.)
I used crushed Ice to slow the bleeding and keep the swelling down as well as to slow the bleeding. For the rest fo the morning I monitiored her condition, worried about head or neck injury from her hitting the doorjamb but everything seems good.
So now she is sitting in the living room watching TV and doing just fine. Very little bruising or swelling. She lucked out and I told her that. (She agrees, she's seen me after some of my little set to's with things like doors, doorjambs and corners.)
Let me tell you though I was concerned. There have only been a couple of times I have seen someone pump out that amount of blood that quickly and they were serious injuries.
