A breakthrough in electronics by Sony Corp.

That's no breakthrough - Sony has been bringing out shit like that for years! :D

So close to true it's great!

Sony should really change their business model. They are one of the greatest R&D outfits since Bell Labs. Sadly, when it comes to production they remind me of what "made in Japan" stood for in the 60s, cheap junk! They need to develop technology the license someone that is good at it to produce it.

It could almost pass for an ad for every cell phone produced in the last 3 years :D

She Who Must Be Obeyed is routinely baffled by hers...I have bought her 2 different ones...doesn't matter...reads the manual...still confused...some people just can't grasp electronics. sigh*

Hell, they have everything but the automatic ass wiper, no wonder she's confused

Awesome. I never realized the Onion did news reports. Those might be able to top the Daily Show! :D

That Bill Gates is a genius. Imagine! Sticking a SONY label on Microsoft crap.

Neither did I. This one was sent to me in an e-mail. There's a bunch of others too. I don't know where they're originally screened, but given the language, I'd say cable. Maybe they have their own channel. :D

While at dinner tonight I was informed there was an Onion movie, but have not yet looked into it.

That must have gone directly to DVD. Of course we only get bits and scraps of Hollywood's output here in the hinterlands...it was prolly screened in the larger markets.

Good call there (from IMDB)

Originally filmed in late 2003, this was subsequently shelved for many years and never released theatrically (allegedly after poor test screening). Finally released directly to DVD in June 2008

Hmmm...it must really suck or the humor went over most peoples heads...I'm guessin' the latter. The Onion's a favorite of mine...but some people read it and go "Huh?"

DVD is only like $15 over at amazon. Might have to pick it up for that price. :)

Here's a quote from a review of the movie:

Sure to offend almost anyone who's looking to be offended, it's just as sure to amuse anyone who's looking to be amused. I've seen far worse entertainment this year.

I like the Onion because it's so offensive. It's the perfect example of not aiming for the lowest common denominator. Some of my LIT stories are written with an Onion slant, and they generally get terrible comments, which I see as validation that I have succeeded in my endeavor to offend the masses while entertaining the few.

So if anyone wishes to be offended, my new Earth Day story would be a good choice. It's linked in my sig line in brown.

That sounds like my kind of story. :D

The Onion's charm is it's irreverence. I remember the 'National Lampoon' magazine was like that...wicked clever humor and highly offensive (to the mainstream) subject matter. I still have some issues packed away somewhere. ;)
