No not the question.

When a company is privately owned but the government decides how it's run, what is that called?

The word is on the tip of my tongue...

It's a phrase, not a word;

SOCIALISM THE NEXT STEP IS COMMUNISM YOU GODDAMN EVIL MY-MONEY-STEALING LIBERAL PINKOS!

When a government is publicly owned but its policies are determined by one or more private corporations, what's it called? ;)

Well, it's not socialism.

Politization maybe?

Anyway, any laws regulating anything in business IS the goverment deciding how companies are run.

Oh, I know, I know. It's called an attempt by society as a whole to keep a bad business operation from endangering the economic well-being of society as a whole. Is this a trick question? That seemed fairly simple to figure out.

Fascism is the correct answer.

But we do that already in America with thousands of rules that apply to everything imaginable. Child labor laws. Civil Rights laws. Handicap access laws. OSHA rules. Environmental protection. Zoning rules. etc etc

So, all you meatheads take some valium.

STELLA pretends that anyone gives a fuck what she does with her IGGY button.

Yes, and the greedy corporate world shows every day that we'd all be toast if those rules and laws weren't in place and largely enforced. It seems we have a whole bunch of folks here blind to the history of what the corporate world does when/as it can.

Still a case of taking a murderer to court and blaming the judge and prosecutor for the murder.

Yep. Youre 100% correct. I struggle with it.

On the one hand I want everyone to prosper and enjoy the fruits of their labor, and I know they'll use their fortunes to fuck me if they can.

People love fascism so long as their ox aint getting gored by the guvmint.

I lived in Franco's Spain, and it wasnt horrible. The La Guardia Civil werent sadistic Gestapo, but they would shoot your ass in a New York minute if you were violent or coloring too far outside the lines.

question for zeb

when a company is privately owned by gets billions in debt and on the verge of bankruptcy, AND the government steps in and guarantees tens of billions in loans to enable the co. to survive, and the gov says, "in exchange for this, we insist you follow certain practices and management procedures." what's THAT called?

How nice of you to adress a post to me. But I must ask, what point that I made were you replying to?

Question for Zeb:

Is every law that adresses what corporate enterprises can and can't do, facism?

Yes? Ok, fair enough, I don't agree with you, but at least you're consistent.

No? Ok then, why cry facism right now, and not for any other zillion of things government has ALWAYS done to meddle in how private businesses are run?

Youre a sarcastic kinda guy, I responded to your sarcasm.
Uh... if you say so.

Anyway, it wasn't much sarcasm really. My point is pretty straightforward, if there's facism in america now all of a sudden, then there has always been, everywhere in the world, because there's always been some goverment control of companies i.e laws telling business how to act.

Facism'r'us.

Fascism has always existed because there is no such thing as perfect capitalism or democracy or communism or whatever. People abuse whatever political and economic system they belong to, and when things go too far someone takes matters in hand and draws some lines in the sand for the worst offenders. Parents are fascists, monarchs are fascists, the US Congress are fascists. They have to be or we'd all be slaves or anarchists.
