Okay, I just know I'm going to get at least one post that makes me regret this.

I'm looking for information and, more importantly, health concerns on cooking human flesh.

Things to know before you make the Hannibal jokes:
The flesh in question is my own, so I'm not planning killing or maiming people. I'm not putting my life or limb in any danger at any point with this. The flesh in question is being surgically removed by a surgeon (and thus safely and in a sterile fashion) and not diseased in any way. The flesh I'm planning on cooking is going to be removed anyways, it's just a matter of what's happening to it. This whole thing wouldn't be happening for another 4-5 years so I'll have time to rethink the idea. Also the idea of cooking it has nothing to do with any of my kinks or fetishes and most definitely a one time situation. And finally.... I was thinking of serving it with a nice chianti.

My main concern is since I'll be under an anesthetic when the flesh is removed, I'm not sure what type of chemicals would get into the meat.

As a general rule, meat safe for human consumption comes from herbivores. They are at the bottom of any food chain and so the risk of your meat eating contaminated meat is greatly reduced.

I've heard of new mothers cooking their placenta and eating it and that meat apparently has the same quality as blood rich UK black pudding (so I'm told). Valleyl81 is right in saying that meat as we consider the term means muscle. Fatty tissue is what we generally cut away and avoid eating. Organs such as the kidneys and liver can be consumed but I'm not sure about other non-specific body parts. If you cook the shit out of it, it won't kill you but then will you enjoy it?

I'm sure others will come along who have greater knowledge than I.

First of all, are you serious??? Eww!

But, that aside, you should realize that generally the meat that we eat is muscle, not skin. So when you say "flesh", most people would think skin, which is less edible than muscle. If you're having muscle removed, I'd seriously wonder why (although I'm wondering why you're having anything removed, plus why in the world you'd want to eat it). As for health concerns, I do recall reading about some health concerns with cannibalism, I think mostly related to the human form of mad cow disease. However, eating your own flesh would probably not result in that, but I don't think there's really a ton of information on it since cannibalism is not encouraged in general.

It's called kuru and it's caused by mutated prions. You can really only get it by dealing with flesh that's already been mutated. Actually eating contaminated prions wont even necessarily do it, it has to get into the blood stream.

And yes I was referring to flesh as in non muscular material though the word covers both skin and muscle or fatty tissue. Further more, skin is perfectly digestible.

And finally, yes, I'm being perfectly serious. I really don't have any aversion to the consumption of human flesh, we eat odder things. I was actually thinking about making a nice soup broth since I'm not entirely sure about how well what I have in mind will cook. And actually the comment about mother's eating placenta's sparked this whole subject.

It's the ren faire and the stocks were likely a reward.... btw, it's a bit hard to tell but the sign on my neck reads Glutton, and yes that's a flogger in my mouth. I think Moon was trying to be punny.

Most ren fairs are very family friendly. That said, there is often an element of the ribald involved. Ren fair types tend to enjoy off colour references, but it's not so bad that you would think of it as porn. More like flirting than anything.

Floggers and single-tails are not uncommon there though. Same with other fun things such as stocks, humiliation, rope, etc.

Yeah.... eh, I'm used to cooking soups with poultry, I'm looking up some pork recipes so i can cook accordingly. I'm fairly sure I don't have Kuru so there isn't a chance of getting it from myself. Only real concern is that there might be whatever they use to put me under in the 'food'.
