"True Roman bread for true Romans."Free bread's pretty cool too.
Anyone watch Rome on HBO?
Hawt.![]()
On a more negative note, they also had professional lawyers.![]()
"What have the romans ever done for us?"
Rome was just the right blend of Sword, sandals and sleazy sex. Kevin McKidd is a great actor.
I remember watching Caligula as a horny 16 year old and getting very turned on by it!(I know it was piece of shit movie
)
Yeah I was upset that they didn't make more.
Cato could turn a phrase.
James Purfoy was so damned perfect as Antony.
"I'll retire to my estate, plow my fields and fuck my slaves. Just like old Cincinnatus."
"If we cannot be friends, then we shall have to be enemies. And I will do everything in my power to destroy you."
The sad thing about the cancellation was that the series had excellent potential to move on from the era it was in. They could've jumped a new period of Roman history with ease, slid in a new cast, and made it into a true historical series. Such a waste of potential.
I just rented this a couple weeks ago. It was good (insert standard blather about historical quibbles here), but I identified with Vorenus in the first season, and hated how they turned him into a total asshat in the second.James Purfoy was so damned perfect as Antony.

Oh yeah. He was a pretty boy, but kinda macho too. But I'm in love with Kevin McKidd, people. It's serious between us. [insert serious smiley face here]

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm wondering what this is.I'll fuck you up your ass and down your throat,
you cock-sucker Aurelius and fudge-packed Furius!
Just because my verses are tender doesn't mean
that I've gone all soft. Sure, a poet should focus
on writing poetry and not on sex; but does that
mean they can't write about sex? If a poem is
in good taste, well-written and sexy,
it can tingle and stiffen even hairy old men,
not just horny teenagers. You think I'm a sissy
because I write about thousands of kisses?
I'll fuck you up your ass and down your throat!
I didn't feel that they turned him into an asshat, at least not in the intent of the writers. The circumstances and the men manipulating the circumstances combined with his own integrity forced him down that dark path. Vorenus was my favorite protagonist in terms of characters I actually 'liked', and I appreciated the tragedy of the story that turns him into an isolated bastard.

Holy shit, thank you.Damn. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catullus_16
I think I'm just going to start typing I'm not worthy when I see a Netzach post.
