…I’ve received thousands of requests from readers on various topics over the last two years. After much musing on the subject I’ve decided to start this thread that I hope will offer my fans some insight into both my stories and the Literotica site in general. At the same time I hope that what follows here will also turn out to be a gold mine of information for future generations of serious English Erotic Literature scholars.

On this thread I hope to (among other things):

* Reproduce reviews and critiques of my stories that have appeared here and elsewhere,
* Give updates on worldwide sales and vote figures of my work,
* Comment on important political questions of the day,
* Help improve this site by giving timely advice to Manu and Laurel,
* Publish my picks for winners of various Literotica contests,
* Discuss advanced sexual techniques,
* Share e-mails I’ve received from my fans,
* Help fix the shambles that is the Contest system at Literotica,
* Give advice to aspiring young authors,
* Pose the hard questions we all have for our leaders,
* Preview coming ‘Scouries’ stories,
* Analyze and do my best to solve issues that are perplexing Literotica authors,

And of course finally, to provide background information on my stories. To take the reader behind the scenes, to give him or her an insight into the genesis of my plots and my characters. To give the reader the real story and talk about the real people who inspired and appeared in my greatest works.

A mainstream publisher? Where? On a porn site? Name one author here who has a "mainstream publisher." Besides you, of course, in your Top Secret life. LMFAO.

A mainstream publisher wouldn't take it as a cover, I don't think, because it's too much like a wall poster--too busy and sharp-focused and, yes, they'd want the title (and the author's name if it was anybody of commercial value) to pop right out. The cover image is to arrest attention, but the display type is to set the information in the browser's mind.

Yeah, but I'm evaluating it in the same way I judge my own. It's not as if scouries is actually selling anything, any more than I am.

As a little something extra to add to the story, this one isn't bad. Nobody even sees mine unless they go to my website, that short-lived cover thread, or the tiny thumbs of them I put in my sig when it's the most recent or upcoming story.

Sarahhh's actually getting a little better at this, unless this one was a fluke. It's certainly leaps and bounds above the last several ones she posted

As for the weather, it's absolutely beautiful here, upper 70's, been wearing sandles all week. The daffodils are gone, ornamental pear trees are half green/half in bloom, the red buds are gorgeous.

Michchick, so sorry to hear about your father and I'm so glad he's alright.

I think I remarked at that before. Right after spitting at Mich on the "do not run display type over the face" issue, Sarahh stopped doing that with her cover designs.

I'm far from ready to charge anyone for my mediocre tale spinning, half-assed photoshop skills, or anything else -- probably never will be. I have a little bit of talent in several areas, but not a lot in any one. I'm lazy by nature, and devoting myself to any one thing to perfect it is simply outside of my ability.

I'm a jack of all trades, and a master of none. I can get the job done in a pinch, but it ain't gonna be as pretty as if you'd hired a professional *laugh*

Have you noticed how darkboy seems to be getting smarter. Maybe our computer was right to take him off the MC list. He still throws in the odd childish insult but he’s agreeing more and more with the boss which is a good sign.

It's this little thing I do called honesty. I know that's a difficult concept for you to wrap your inflatable head around, but look it up some time in a dictionary that hasn't been edited by the scouries world staff to remove any scary words

Being delusional doesn't mean that you're always wrong. It just means that you're usually right for all the wrong reasons when it happens, and that half of those reasons only exist in your misfiring synapses.

Oh and looky there, they do e-book AND print and it's not Print On Demand.

Actually, it is POD. It's just through Lightning Source/Ingram. Most (if not all) epubs utilize POD. Even the big companies like Samhain and Ellora's Cave. It's actually a very resourceful (and common sense) way to print books. Print runs are expensive. Why print books before they're needed, right? But Sr has explained this before... over and over... to Spoutrahhh, and s/he just. doesn't.get.it.

No, I'm from Michigan. And this is by no means meant to be sarcastic, but have you missed bserg's posts to me calling me "the chick from Michigan"?

Well anyway, spring is slowly creeping in here. It was sunny and in the 40's today. Unfortunately, I didn't get to spend much time outside enjoying it. Contrary to what Bostondicklesswhiner thinks, I do have a job. I work in a factory with very few windows. It's supposed to be in the mid 50's over the weekend! WOO HOO!!

I just got back awhile ago from taking my dad to the emergency room. He fell down his porch steps. Fortunately, he didn't break anything! So, at least with the drive home, I got to enjoy some of the early Spring sunshine.

Now I'm off to clean up all the "winter muck" from my yard. Oh, if Gabby shows up, the darts are over in the corner. Aim for the throat.

I clicked on your link for Samhain and searched by Author and found only one $2.50 e-book by her. Is there more?

I was addressing eXcessica's submissions consultant, Ace, on the issue of "mainstream" based upon the context of his repeated usage of the word.

So how do you define mainstream?

Well, I just figured since I've bought Samhain books from an actual park-your-car-in-the-parking-lot-and-walk-inside-the-building bookstore that they weren't, my bad. Learn something new every day. But they're still a mainstream publisher.

Yep, Lightning Source/Ingram distribute to brick-and-mortar stores. Borders, B&N. Alas, Amazon is not a brick-and-mortar store. But you have to buy/provide your own ISBNs with Lightning Source/Ingram, as opposed to CS, and as a company, we're not ready to do that. Yet.

But yes, Samhain is a mainstream publishing company, and they are gaining ground all over the place, including places like B&N and Borders, not just in the ebook world.

And no, Spoutrash, there's no other book listed there authored by me - just the one.
