Chicago Litogether 2009

Yeah... me either. I'm WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY to straight-laced for that. ;)

Care to share another couple pitchers of pre-mixed margaritas with extra tequila?

Damn.

I have coffee everywhere.

:D

You bring the tequila. ;)

Two years ago, there was a line outside & around the block to get into the art museum on Saturday afternoon -- and it was COLD, too.

That's not surprising when there's a good special exhibit going on. This year the museum's collection of Impressionist paintings has returned after a year or so out of view. No doubt plenty of folks will be interested in visiting with their favorite Monet or Seurat on Saturday. Friday would get my nod, for sure.

That's where I want to head on Friday if I can find company.

I would be up for a trip into Chicago Saturday morning. Unfortunately, I need to work Friday - though it's only about 3 miles from the hotel.

I'm not as interested in the Field. And I want to make sure i haven plenty of time at the hotel to do whatever planned activities are happening, plus I have some localish friends to see. But I REALLY want to go to the Art Institute.

:)

And we can check out the local watering holes for lunch? I have visions of Polish sausage or brats and beer or something.

You may have to work at this, as there isn't much of the sort you're thinking of in the immediate vicinity of the museum campus. However, a short bus ride will get you to appropriate places where you can get great Italian beef sandwiches. Also popular around here are gyros sandwiches, often available at the same kinds of places that have great beef. Do not pass up the classic Chicago hot dog, either, for it's a unique pleasure.

A very good site for looking up places to eat (with reviews) is Metromix.

While I'm at it, another great site for folks traveling into the Chicago area from out of town by car is this one for real-time traffic data: Gary-Chicago-Milwaukee Corridor Maps

Locally on radio, the best and most frequent traffic reports are from WBBM-AM (780) and WGN-AM (720).

It's been a while since I've chatted about the Chicago Litogether...but since it's coming up so soon here I just wanted to wish everyone a good time. :D I'm so jealous I won't be able to go!!

But hopefully I'll make it to one, one of these years. lmao Have fun - I'll be thinking about you!
