Chicago Litogether 2009

Very nicely said :)

I've told all my friends and family that it's an author's convention :D

That's what I tell mine. :D

(Hubby knows - and supports -I am blessed.)

Same thing I've told all the folks I work with who ask what I'm doing during my vacation time. :D

Although I usually say it's a "Writer's Convention - or in otherwords an excuse to party and get drunk... " That usually makes them laugh and stop asking questions. ;)

I've pretty much been telling people at work variations of all of this. There's the one guy who's always nosy as hell...he asked me a bunch of questions 'cause he thought that if it was an authors' convention his brother-in-law would probably be going, and a squillion other things I didn't want to answer, so I said that the info I got was pretty vague and I wasn't sure what all was going on, or even who would be there beyond a few friends I've spoken to, because it's been awhile since I last went to this thing. He finally dropped it.

A year is awhile, and I've spoken to a few friends who are going to be there, right? :D

that's the phrase I use, too. And then when I tell them that I'm bringing along some NaNoWriMo projects my students did back in November, they all nod approvingly. ;)

I've been saying "getting together with some online friends" and leaving it at that. I've found that leaving it loose with no official organization attached helps me avoid further explanation.

My husband keeps teasing me about a UFO convention with worship of giant phalluses, aliens, flowing robes, tinfoil hats, the Sears Tower as the docking station. I told him this morning that he's not really that far off. :D

The flowing robes get in my way but I do like the tinfoil hats :D

You know, it just struck me ... by this time next week we will already be saying/have said our final goodbyes to the group and will already be looking forward to returning for Chicago 4

Not looking for it ... just realizing that it's that close. We've been talking in terms of months and weeks and now it's down to days and hours.

I'm so giddy it's hard to keep from bouncing off the walls.

I *think* we'll be around til Sunday afternoon sometime, tho I don't know how that will work exactly since check out is at noon. I know I have to get my kids between 5-6 Sunday evening in Kenosha.

A quick question to all ...

Somewhere we missed a Sunday night reservation. Is anyone else planning on staying at the hotel Sunday night? If you are, please let me know ASAP so I can contact the hotel first thing in the morning.

Blonde moment.
