"The Fate of the Republic."

I still dont get it....

Left or Right is not what matters....Are we ever going to get that?

No: Two types of people, those who love liberty and those who envy its result.

What is going to destroy us, the US?: The Democrat Party

It won’t mean to. Everything it does, it does for you and in your name, and you’re the little guy.

It is the party, for the most part, of the single-issue voter. That issue might be abortion, wealth redistribution, the Environment, war, the poor, homosexuality, your job, your investment firm, or any one of a number of causes. A single-issue voter is never going to get what they want unless they pull a Faust, I’ll vote, without question for your issue, if in return, I get the quid pro quo on my issue. You see where this leads, the fallacy of False Expert as each special interest group is simply allowed to make laws to benefit them.

The beauty of the whole system is, the Republican represents the people "against" your issue (hence ALL issues...)

So long as the "right" sees bipartisanship as "give us everything we want" then yes, it really is.

When the "right" is actively cheering for the failure of the economy then yes, it really is us against them. Especially when it's their economic policies that got us here.

So long as the "right" is dominated by the minority far-right fringe then they should and will be relegated to minority status.

When the GOP decides to wake the fuck up and stop listening to the die hard crackpot 29% then they may have a shot at regaining some semblance of power and respectability. As it is they're the crazy uncle who is seated in the back row at every family function.

You know the him, the one clutching his bible to his chest and ogling all of the teenaged relatives.

:)

It's what you get when you decide that law trumps justice.

Ishmael

Indeed. If justice trumped law, "every imaginable toothless, spandex wearing, drunk, stoned night dweller" would be marching on the Hamptons with torches and pitchforks, and the middle class would be marching with them.

Helpful hint, Cap'n: If you begin with that and leave off the "-ic," you have just proven yourself an idiot and no intelligent person will see any good reason to pay attention to the rest of your speil.

Simple ad Hominem and the tell of the collectivist, look for a style error and avoid the substance in its entirety.

Not even their press calls them Democratic Senators from such-and-such state, they say the Democrat Senator, because there are only TWO parties and the bulk of "The People" dropped the "ic" in common usage years ago and know full well of whom you speak, in fact, it's now more of a trivia fact as in, "Did you know it's not the Democrat Party?"

Too bad, the most common reply to that is, "I know! It's the Communist Party now!"

;) ;)

Hey, why are you "suddenly" such a coward about answering in your "RW" and Afghaninam thread? Don't you think that makes you look something of the type of idiot whom can hurl a baseless blanket accusation that cannot be defended?

So far this year the Fate is in very questionable hands, "oversighted, forgetful and I'm paid up now", time will tell if everything get fixed.

You are definately in my ballpark now ish.

Ive been saying for the near-decade of my interest in politics that Abortion and Gay Marriage (and interracial marriage, and "unpure acts", and all of that religious-driven drivel) are not the real issues at hand.

We may strongly disagree on the way to the end, but at least we agree on the irrelevant factors along the way.

I'm afraid they are "real issues" if some politically engaged Americans choose to make them so, which they do, and that's not about to stop. Which means they have to remain "real issues" to anyone who, e.g., wants to keep abortion legal.

You buying or selling?
To tell you honestly, he's selling.

It's what we old folk do.

We've learned so much in our lives, in the reading we've done, in the things we've realized, that towards the end, we can't imagine all this collected knowledge vanishing from the face of the earth; that maybe knowbody else will ever discover it again.

This Obamamania so against the mood of the 1960's...

He's giving trillions of dollars to corporations, not to the people!

Why doesn't anyone see that?

But.. maybe they won't ever.

What you're doing is letting all the power slip from the hands of people into those whose only interest is power. Not people, but power.

Everything they don't deem relevant to their power, they'll discard.

What they are willing to discard includes all human learning for then last 5000 years.

That's not a good thing.

How would you describe Nancy P. or Harry R.??

When the "right" is actively cheering for the failure of the economy then yes, it really is us against them. Especially when it's their economic policies that got us here...

I dont cheer for failure but I do not see how spending the amount of money we are for all kinds of things and then trying to take away my rights as a veteran is going to make it better.

This is how you see the right. This is really not the way the right is.

I believe in choice and freedoms but I will never believe that what I work hard for should be given to someone else. Before it gets asked or indicated that I make a large sum of money...no I dont. I live simple and smart, I take care of what I have and I pass that along to my two children.

Byron, he's giving trillions to corporations that congress is now going to manage and by God they're going to manage them no matter how much of the constitution has to be torn up to do so.

Corporations now become the political fall guys that are going to provide cover for every mis-management step congress and the administration take. A convenient way to mis-direct the ignorant from what's really taking place. One has to look no further than this flap over AIG to see the writing on the wall.

They will not take that away so it is a mute point. Do you think they want women dying in back alleys or from unknown infections???

However I do not think it is right to force a doctor to perform one it goes against his moral beliefs. Why should one be forced upon another
