Your Billboard for Rush (Writerly)

Bill Gates is a liberal hero? Dude! He's always been just another capitalist sleazebag who was coerced into his charitable pursuits by the media, who noted, back in the early days, that he was the stingiest rich dude on the face of the earth.

One more slogan:
$400 million? That's a lot of OxyContin. Party hardy dude!

It was actually a lot more of his mother who put the screws on to do this, I do believe, but it's much the same, really. She was a local figure who did a lot of stuff. As I recall, the United Way push every year at MS was because of his mother (who did a lot of United Way leadership).

I love your slogan!

I like Bill O'Reilly. I think we're twins separated at birth.

This billboard challenge, like any other negative attention to the Rush Limbaughs and Anne Coulters of the world, plays right into their hands. It's free advertising.

The only antidote to these people's venom is to put them on virtual Ignore. That's certainly been the case here in the Authors Hangout.

BOX

Oh! Sure! Once or twice I've caught O'Reilly talking nonsense about issues I know about. So, you have to watch him at times or he'll stretch the truth.

"On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, just minutes before learning of the terrorist attacks on America, Democratic strategist James Carville was hoping for President Bush to fail, telling a group of Washington reporters: "I certainly hope he doesn't succeed."

Carville was joined by Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg, who seemed encouraged by a survey he had just completed that revealed public misgivings about the newly minted president."

Of course only Rush is evil for saying the same thing about Obama

Considering the Bush legacy, one could conclude that the wish for him to fail at promoting his evil agenda was justified. Bush has done more damage to this country than the 9/11 terrorists. The fact that the conservatives want Obama to fail at repairing that damage is puzzling, to say the least.

Conservatives want Obama to fail at promoting what they see as his Socialist agenda. So do I, for that matter, because I believe Socialism is a bar to innovation and ambition. Under Socialism, there is liffle or no incentive for anybody to make an effort to succeed, if it involves hard work.

What I'm saying is this: Why should I bust my ass and make the sacrifices to attend college and make something of myself when I can fuck around and goof off, and be almost as well off?

Amen

This is the point sound banks and reputable industry makes about the bailouts. Competent and honest people are forced to help the thieves and empty suits.

So taking control of everything out of individual hands and giving it to the Govt. is a good thing? What incentive is there to succeed? Take away the charitable deduction for the rich? Why so Obama can give it to who he supports like Unions? What a crock of shit!

Almost as well off? The cutoff for government benefits is $850 per month, which works out to about $10,000 per year. Compare that to the median income in the US, which, I believe is $50,000 per year. If those two figures are "almost" the same, you need to go back to school my friend, because your grasp of basic math is nonexistent.

DP - as we well know, Obama's whole agenda is a frantic attempt to rescue the collapsed Bush economy. If you're against what he's doing, blame the Bush administration for getting us into this mess.

This whole "socialism" thing is just another Right Wing scare tactic, playing to fears of the ignorant and the uninformed. You really should take it over to the General Board, where it would get a better reception.

.

That Clinton and his cronies caused when they changed the Mortgage rules and then looted Fannie and Freddie for over $160 Million? That is the cause of the the whole thing. Or was it Barney frank blocking an attempt by the evil Bush to fix those rules in 02? Remeber what caused the problem!

You are probably citing the current cutoff. Under Socialism, the taxes assessed against productive individuals or companies would be so high that the benefits provided to the unproductive individuals would amount to almost parity. I realize that is not the case under current guidelines, but I am certain it would be in a few years.

That is what income redistribution is all about!
Just watch what happens next!

The Bush administration ignored dire warnings about impending doom in the financial sector beginning in the mid-2000s and continuing up until he left office. To try to place the blame elsewhere would play better over at the General Board, my friend.

*hits forehead* My mistake. This is, after all, a Rush Limbaugh thread.

Bush wanted the mortgage rules changed in 02 and Barney Frank blocked it.

And the Democrat controlled Congress issued how may warnings in the last 2 years? None? Oh yeah, Barney Franks lover was banking millions while at freddie and Chris Dodd was getting a sweetheart loan from the Countrywide. Those are the Dems in charge of banking and finance in the House and Senate. What great leaders they are!
Add the Sec Treas., Rangle, and the other 4 or 5 Obama nominees who can't pay taxes to the list.
When they are in jail I will think Pelosi's promise of clean Govt. might happen. Not before!

So during the Bush administration the democrats were in charge? Thank you for filling me in. I didn't realize our government worked that way. You might want to alert the media, and, especially, the folks who write the school textbooks. All this time I was under the impression that if a political party holds a majority in the house and senate, and their guy is in the Whitehouse, and the Supreme court is also of the same ideology, they should be held accountable for their actions. Silly me! I can be so naive sometimes.

Government benefits are something I know lots about.

Benefits take many forms.

I know people who collect 50K from social security for mental illness. I know people who make shit. But youre run of the mill trailer trash/jungle bunny welfare shitbird gets AFDC, MEDICAID, FOOD STAMPS, SECTION 8 HOUSING, FREE SCHOOL BREAKFAST/LUNCH, and BUS PASSES.

AFDC isnt great, buts its about $250 per kid, MEDICAID is worth an easy $600 a month, FOOD STAMPS maybe $250, and HOUSING is $600-$1000 a month.

The average employed American works 33 hours and earns $16 an hour....$528 before taxes. So a welfare queen with 2 kids makes about what the average worker makes.

They have controlled both houses for the last 2 years and wrote all the spending bills during that time. They chaired the Banking and Finance comittees of both houses and issued how many warnings? They were really doing their job weren't they?

DP

Dee Zire's presupposition is DEMOCRATS DIDNT KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON.

Nonsense.

As long as it worked for them, it was okay by them.

The Dems have controlled both houses of Congress for the past two plus years, including the last two years of W's term. Did they say anything or do anything? Even before that, they had members on the Banking Committees of both houses, and they knew anything the Reps knew. Did they say or do anything? Of course not. Neither did the Reps. because they were all getting bribes of one form or another. Most of them weren't as flagrant as the sweetheart mortgage deal that Chris Dodd got. I'm not saying the other payoffs were any less dishonest or dishonorable, just not as flagrant.

As far as I'm concerned, a pox on all politicians.
