The 'stimulus' isn't going to work, and why.

Before it's all over it's going to be $3 trillion and that's not counting in all of the long term indebtedness that he's porking up those bills with.

Fortunately, the opposition party (The Grand Old Party!) remains steadfast in battling against the fiscal insanity.

Not counting a few thousand earmarks, of course.

AP WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama approved an order Wednesday to overhaul the way the U.S. government awards contracts for work to be done by the private sector, reversing a Bush administration policy.

Obama joined Republican Sen. John McCain, his presidential campaign rival, and other congressional figures to announce an executive memorandum that commits his administration to a new set of marching orders for awarding contracts. Obama said "the days of giving government contractors a blank check are over" and said changes could save up to $40 billion a year.

One area in particular that is targeted is no-bid contracts, which the administration is seeking to change so that there will be more competition for government-paid work.

Admit it, youre just pissed haliburton cant get $100 per load of laundry they do over in Iraq anymore.

Job Forecast for College Seniors: Grimmer Than Ever

Laura Fitzpatrick – Smith College's career office sent its jittery job-hunting seniors a letter last month with a reassuring message: "There ARE jobs, and you can find employment." Unfortunately, there are far fewer jobs than anticipated, according to a report out today from the National Association for Colleges and Employers (NACE). The companies surveyed for the group's spring update are planning to hire 22% fewer grads from the class of 2009 than they hired from the class of 2008, a big letdown from the group's projections in October that hiring would hold steady. Some 44% of companies in the survey, conducted last month, said they plan to hire fewer new grads, and another 22% said they do not plan to hire at all this spring, more than double last year's figure.

"If you were a student and were out there [interviewing] in the fall, you probably had a decent chance of getting a job," says Edwin Koc, director of strategic and foundation research at NACE. "But frankly, the spring does not look good."

Why would I give a shit about that?

Did you know the no-bid contracts with Halliburton came from Clinton's administration too?

How many other companies do what Halliburton does?

LOL.

Admit it, you just got hooked like a starving large mouthed bass. Now all Obama has to do is reel you in and gut you.

Look at the federal budget junior, no bid contracts aren't the problem, they're chump change. For all the furor they've created, earmarks aren't the problem either, in terms of the overall budget they too are chump change.

And your still living in the past. Pitiful thing to see in one so young. Haliburton didn't bring us to this point in time and cutting them loose isn't going to get us out of this mess. But you keep throwing up those red herrings junior.

There is some positive news though. Even the democrats have had enough of Obamas war on producers. Coalitions are forming in both the house and the senate to gut his programs and you should be sending those good senators and representatives some words of thanks. They may have saved a future for you, because Obamas policies would have garunteed that you had none at all. Time will tell if they stick by their guns.

And none of that changes my bleak prognostication for the next decade. The monies gone and it's not coming back. Obama is making noises about punishing those that seek off shore shelters. Which is a fine way to get even more wealth to flee the country before the fucking idiot can actually do something. He doesn't have a clue.

Where is that wealth going to go in a worldwide recession?

Where is that wealth going to go in a worldwide recession?

There are havens all over the place. The goal is wealth preservation, not growth. T-bills, gold, platinum, Swiss (or other banking centers) accounts, you name it. The Swiss have effectively told the US to go pack sand re. the attempt to get names and accounts. I don't blame them either. Wealth not invested in markets is quite portable.

Right now a great deal of those monies are flowing into T-bills. Which only sets up another catastrophe if Obama decides to raid those as well.

Ishmael

Do you people actually look up any real facts yourselves, or just believe what the lunatic fringe radio or TV jockeys tell you?

(I know... using google to look up actual stats. is bad...it disproves the lies you so want to believe)

Regardless....Obama is FILLING the treasury after BUSH plundered it.

It's right here in black and fucking white:

How difficult is this to understand? The chart took a historical nose-dice under SHRUB, and now it's rising again.

You wingnuts really look ridiculous saying Obama is spending more than Bush, etc.

Obama might be spending more over the long term to fix the MESS Bush and the Neocons put us in, but he isn't giving out an instant giveaway parting gift that was a complete waste like the former President.

You keep posting the same shit turd, how stupid are you, really?

How stupid are you to not be able to comprehend a simple graph?

Here, I'll post numerical data:

Latest Observations:

Date Value

2008-09-01 -187.321
2008-10-01 -332.803
2008-11-01 -88.849
2008-12-01 167.376
2009-01-01 294.923

If you guys like to play the old date correlation game, ever since Obama took office the Treasury has been in the black...the exact opposite of the plunder that happened under Bush...his "parting gift" instant giveaway with no strings attached to his neocon banker buddies.

The data is right here:

Data without understanding is worthless, absolutely worthless.

Let me see if I can explain that data in terms that even you might understand.

That big negative spike you keep blaming on Bush was the run on the treasury orchestrated by parties still unnamed back in Sept. Those were the actions of private parties, not the government.

That big positive spike is/was a combination of two things, also during the Bush administration. The combination was the first trillion dollar bailout and people jumping out of the market and into T-bills. That big positive spike you so proudly point to is actually a debt, with interest accruing.

Why did people jump into T-bills? It was late in the year, the market was tanking, and banks were uncertain. The quick place to put your money is in Treasuries because they are TAX DEFFERED instruments. You can park your money and not have a taxable event for that year.

Now, the fed is showing this surplus which underwrites the debt. Obama can spend that money if he can get congress to concur. And let's say he does spend the money. And then starts diddling with the laws to get creative with taxes to begin to recover all the bucks he's throwing away. Fine, the money is spent and now he's starts closing tax shelters, one of which is the T-bills. The money is gone and he's going to try to enact punitive measures to get his hands on some more money. And the folks that parked their money in the Fed. cash in to move it elsewhere. Instant national bankruptcy and a depression no one's seen the likes of before.

And Obama is making just those very noises. Perhaps now you might understand why he's getting votes of 'no confidence'. You're backing an idiot when it comes to the national financial health. Even Soros doesn't have enough money to cover the bets Obama is laying down.

Which all goes back to my theory that the US is being collectively punished by the unnamed special interest group.

Bush went against them, (to his credit), and Obama is following suit.

If Obama knew what he was doing he wouldn't be running up the debt.

I have to quote this for posterity. "The Shrub" just became Bush again. Amazing, utterly amazing.

If economists really knew what the hell to do and what the outcome would be there would be consensus because economics is a science, right? But you have experts on the left and experts on the right and everyone is convinced they know the WAY. No matter which way Obama would choose to go it's all a great big ol experiment and we'll know when we know. Sucks, don't it.

Economists all think they're kings. They forget that demographics is God.

All of which amazes me all the more what with how the democrat party, and the press, has divided the nation by ever finer demographic groups. I'm waiting for the day that the networks are beating on the door of the only trans-sexual, jewish, female, black dwarf, with a Spanish surname, in the nation to find out how she's going to vote in the next election. And the democrats tripping all over themselves telling her what they're going to give her because she must be oppressed.

Yeah, it'll be easier for the Republicans to get the massage out since the religious right isn't nearly so diverse.
