Betticus went back to the hospital

He was on morphine last night. They tried to do the endoscopy again but couldn't. They tried to do a shunt and that didn't work either. He thinks they're going to try again today.

I have no idea what any of that really means but it's sounding worse this time.

I don't know what they would be doing with a shunt but an endoscopy is a camera fed along the digestive tract from one end or the other, to ascertain what's going on. I expect he's too inflamed inside for one just yet. Also, I think there has to be a 24hr fast before they do these things.

I know virtually squat about this kind of medicine, sorry I can't be more helpful.

Who's going to post the cute hamster pics that make my day? :(

I'm sending as much positive energy his way for a speedy recovery.

Oh no. Yeah, I don't know anything about GI surgeries north of the ileum. This sounds scary and awful and I hope he's ok soon :rose::rose::rose:

OK I'm pretty new here so I hope this isn't out of line.
Does he have someone there to act as an advocate? I know from experience that your care is better if you have someone who will make a scene if needed
Also if he continues to throw-up blood, bright red is BAD you can die from this one sometimes in a matter of minutes. Coffee ground looking things in the vomit are bad just not as bad.
He needs a good Gastro Doctor and soon. Some of the doctors out there don't take Gastro problems seriously or seem to think it's an urgent problem. This sounds very serious.
I hope he gets better soon.

I've sent several texts today and no response. Is there anyone else that knows how to find out anything more?

Oh please send him my love and well wishes, and thank you for keeping us posted as much as possible.
:(

As far as I know Bet is alone but I agree, patients should have an advocate when in the hospital.

:rose:

That is quite the cute kitty.
I am glad to hear hes at least somewhat okay, though not back to his normal self. Still sending love and well wishes his way.

I spoke with him this afternoon. He's in good enough spirits that he was being his usual adorable yet pervy joking self.

We have no idea when he'll be out of the hospital as of yet.

He's resting, dreaming of my melons, and has had some stents placed to redirect the blood flow. Hopefully it'll all stick.

Good to know someone is keeping tabs on him. Thanks for the update, Essene. Hope he's up and washing hamsters again soon!

I talked to him, briefly, this morning. His doctor was there, so the conversation was brief. I said that everyone was worried and he said they shouldn't be. He also said he's sleeping a lot. I'll call again tomorrow.
