Don't like the "bride" look. The "sash" look is kinda interesting. Dresses with "sash" style straps that trail on down. Is that the "India" influence? The winners, to me, Anne Hathaway's deco gown, and Kate Winslet's beautiful gray.

I loved Natalie Portman's gown. I think hers was my favorite.

I agree with you about the wedding style, but I did like Penelope Cruz's gown - it's a vintage gown, from back in the 1950's.

Some could have done so much better...Meryl Streep's gown was beautifully cut, but an awful color, and Angelina Jolie is such a gorgeous woman...why black?

My favorite gown was the one J Lo wore a couple of years ago - the one that had to be taped to her tits. That, to me, is classy and elegant, and should be the standard for all women going to awards shows. "Sorry, miss Jolie. That gown doesn't show enough cleavage. I'm afraid you're going to have to get with wardrobe and find something more revealing to wear before you can come on stage."

I don't know them all, either. Like the fifth from the left the best, but I don't know who it is. Also didn't know there were lots of pictures to the right of that, as the posting r-e-a-l--l-y stretched my screen out.

I'm with Cloudy. To me Nathalie Portman was the stand out of the night. She was stunning. Plus I am partial to pinks.

I thought Kate Winslett looked amazing too.

Not enough colour this year...everything was so pale.

Angelina is looking so hard these days...proably not get enough sleep with all those little babies around...she could have worn something other than black to soften her look.

There was a marked lack of COLOR this year. Soooooooo many white or cream or beige or ecru or peach-y or whatever eggshell-ish hue. BO-RING. Of those pictured, though, I like Anne Hathaway's the best.

Agree with cloudy re the color of Meryl Streep's.

That is supposed to be a mark of a gentleman - that he wears his tux so often that he doesn't care how untidy it looks.

Unfortunately that isn't right. A proper gentleman has a gentleman's gentleman who would be ashamed to let his gentleman be seen in anything but a properly fitted Savile Row tuxedo. A slight unevenness in the bow tie might be permissible just to show that it is a proper bow tie and not a pre-sewn one - but that is all.

No contest: Penelope Cruz's vintage Balmain gown. Gorgeous, glamourous, very Hollywood-in-its-heyday.

I've been impressed by Kate Winslet's style all the way through. Understated, elegant, timeless and sexy.

I understand that many of the actresses went for more muted outfits because they didn't want to appear too conspicuously overdressed in time that are so difficult for people economically. Not sure that I agree and that colour grey on Meryl Streep completely drained her.

Miley Cyrus - Perfect for her, if a bit too "fairytale in Branson" for the rest of us.

Anne Hathaway - So glamorous! I would hit the floor to catch her on the rebound.

Angelina Jolie - Looks wasted by a dark obsession. Her vial of Billy Bob's blood would have completed this Gothic reverting to her dark side. Or was she inspired by Jen Aniston's date John Mayer's dark wavy hair?

Meryl Streep - I'm so sorry, who died?

Penelope Cruz - Very pretty, especially if you're partial to sumptuous draperies. A cord on the back of this dress turns it into a mini.

Sarah Jessica Parker - Boobies! Yay!

Kate Winslet - Queen of Clubs in my deck of MILFs.

The only thing those fickle fools manage to succeed in doing is make women self conscious about themselves and it does absolutely nothing but make people miserable.

I read one website where they gave some really well dressed women D's and F's and that did it for me.

I have to disagree with you there, old top. The crippling insecurities of women work out quite nicely for us.

Oh I'm sure women's insecurities work out for some. But I get nothing out of it, personally. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

I for one really liked Whoopi's leopard skin dress... as for stiletto heels, I would not desire to live in a world without them, or without the freedom to wear any other style a man or woman chooses. And I personally prefer ladies in low heels, or elegant thong sandals.
