The Eldath Campaign: Ooc section.

The elves of Eldath have lived for over 50 years in peace, disturbed by none save those they traded with. Many remember the human orcish, giant and elf wars that raged decades ago, but to some of the younger generation these are just stories, or perhaps memories of childhood. However threat has again reared its ugly head and the peace of Eldath is shattered one night. In the raid that killed dozens, the orcish raiders took several very important treasures of the elven people, not least of which were the three elders. honored and respected, these elders were healers and wiseman of Eldath, loved by all.

Finding himself caught up in the struggle, a peaceful healer Talinath finds himself arguing to go to war against the orcs who purpitrated the attack. After much persuasion and arguing, Talinath finds himself appointed to lead a group of no more than 4 individuals on an expedition to investigate the orcs' stronghold, and if possible inact a rescue of the elders.
What will this young healer learn? Is this just the tip of a much larger plot? or is there something even more sinister at work.

(ooc: The eldath campaign is a D&D style freeform campaign, moderated by the gladiator, who will also play the role of Talinath as group leader.
Story will be guided by the Gladiator, however player input is always welcome. As Moderator I will handle outcome of all combat, which is the only time dice rolling might come into play, just to keep things fare enough. We can be flexible.
Please, if interested PM me a character sheet before posting it to this thread.
I don't need your characters complete 2E or 3E (What ever edition you play)'s character sheet just all the basics, I can post Talinath's once I write it as an example.

by basics I mean something like
name:
race:
gender:
Class:
weapon proficiencies:
gneral skills:
physical description: (Please include a detailed written description even if you find a picture for your character)
Character history:

for weapon profs and such assume you are at like level 5, so for 2E for example this would give warriors 5 (max) weapons, clerics, 4, rogues, 3, and wizards 1
or something like that I can be flexible.
Looking for a mix of classes and hopefully an even male to female ratio, but if we get a lot of interest I can allow up to 4 other players besides myself

please no rule lawyers, I'm playing a little fast and easy with rules as its a freeform thread, those who wish to spout constant rules and jargon at me will find their character will not have a pleasant time *incert evil dm laughter here*
that being said I will try my best to be fare, and if there is a concern don't hesitate to bring it to my attention, just don't get demanding.
no powergaming, you are not all powerful, if you think you are...you again will find I can come up with something to kill you, although I would rather not.
As always standard RP Etiquette applies, have fun and be respectful.

If there are any questions please Post them here or PM me.
thanks for your interest and I hope you enjoy the thread.

I am interested in joining... however, I have never played Dungeons and Dragons. The closest I´ve ever been was playing Shadow over Mystara (and that was an Arcade beat-em-up game). I know a little of the lore, even watched the cartoon about a decade ago... but as you can already guess, I would be the last person to go rules-lawyering.

Would I be admitted to the roleplay? I´m thinking something simple like a female archer/scout kind of character, human or Elven.

Talinath lighttouch

Name: Talinath Lighttouch
race: High Elf
Age: 150 (adulthood is 99)
height: 5'5"
weight: 120 lbs
Class: Feywarden (Cleric of Corellon Larethian)
specialist: Herbalist, a healer
Weapons: Bow: long, Sword: Long, and Mace: Footmans.

Description: Talinath is a young elven healer who is tall for his people. He has blonde hair that is to his shoulders and blue eyes, which is one of the two most common hair eye color combinations in high elf society, the other equally numerous variety being black haired and green eyed. He has a gentle disposition, a sort of calm strength and isn't what most would think of as a leader at first glance.

History: Talinath has trained as a healer and herbalist since childhood, trained by the village elders and other healers in the city. He lives alone, his house always open to strangers in need. He finds his world changing when 3 of his greatest mentors are stolen from him in a dangerous raid by the enemies of the elven people. He now is taxed with leading a scout and perhaps rescue party. He doesn't see himself as a leader, but the elders feel he is the best one for the job. He now waits to see who will volunteer to accompany him on this dangerous mission.

of course you would be welcome, you're a good roleplayer and I'm sure what you lack in lore knowledge you will more than make up in roleplaying and writing ability, pm me your character and I can help you tweak it if needed and then you can post it. Thanks for your interest!

name: Nym

race: human

gender: female

Class: chaos mage

weapon proficiencies: crossbow, dagger, shortsword

general skills: Nym has earned her living as a thief and a tavern wench. She can sing and dance passably for small town entertainment, and is very agile and quick. She's pretty ruthlessly manipulative and good at getting people to give her what she wants, as well as she is able to figure out what they want from her.

physical description: Nym is a delicate, petite woman, not quite five feet tall in bare feet, though she usually wears boots to stand taller. She has fiery red hair that can seem to twist and move without (or against) the wind when she gets excited and vivid, almost alien purple eyes.

Character history: Her mother died in childbirth and Nym's father was grateful when he lost her in a card game. She grew up as mostly an indentured servant in a road tavern, learning the skills her master hoped would make her valuable as a whore and picking up the lightfingered skills that she supported herself with when she ran away.

She's pretty aware that something is wrong with her, she's noticed that her emotions can spark interesting responses in the world, and she's beginning to control the chaos in her blood. It scares her and excites her.

Recently she's ended up among the elves, hoping that maybe they can help her figure out what is going on, since they know more about magic than humans. And if they are faster on the uptake when she tries to steal their purses, they pay better in the upstairs rooms at the taverns, they seem to have a curiosity for her red hair.

Welcome to the thread Nym, feel free to post in the IC thread

I hope we can get some others to join us, if not we might be able to change it to a one on one. But we'll do introes and such and hope someone joins

name: Gorin Zachian
race: Human
gender: Male

Class: Paladin of Torm

weapon proficiencies: Longsword, Shortbow, Lance, Spear, Javelin

general skills: Expert in mounted combat, but also competent on foot. Very knowledgeable of the major and some of the intermediate deities, especialy the human pantheon. He was originally a stableboy and has grown an affinity for horses.

physical description: Slightly bigger than average, years of martial training have paid off for his physique. He has shoulder length Raven black hair (which he keeps straight) and light brown eyes. He currently rides a simple draught horse and was given old bronze-scaled mail.
His weapons are even more nondescript than his armor - simple iron longsword, spear, and a few javelins; all with no real decoration.

Character history: Gorin Zachian was born to a family of servants who worked for a wealthy farmer in the country. By the time he was 8, he was already put to work helping the stablehands with whatever they asked him to.

2 years later, a virulent plague swept the region. By the time the healers arrived at the farm, it was too late. Everyone had died quickly and horribly. Gorin, on the other hand was not only alive, but seemingly untouched by the ravaging disease! It was then decided that Gorin had received the calling from Torm to be a paladin.

For 9 years, he trained under the tutelage of the Paladin Uvanov and receied the education he never had the chance to get in his previous life. His work in the stables made him a natural when it came time to learn to saddle and ride a horse.

When the training was completed, he was given one final test. He was given little money and was poorly equipped, then he was instructed to go out into the world and prove himself by doing good deeds. It is now 3 months later, as his path now takes him to Eldath.

wow... I normally request bios be pmed first, but with a bio like that... you're approved, torm is justice, correct? *doesn't want to go find his manual*
I find it ironic that so far there is only one elf coming forward to defend the elven lands.

Tyr is Justice. He's also done for.

Torm is duty, loyalty, and paladins.

At least, that's what I got from looking at Wikipedia.

Ah that's right... although Tyr would also be acceptable but Torm makes a good deity for a paladin.
feel free to post in the IC thread
n't believe I got those two mixed up.
*grumbles* I'm getting rusty In my *old* age. j/k

Name: Eilan Telei-Intuis
Age: 105
Appearance: Petite and slim with raven dark hair that has a bluish tinge when light catches it. Green eyes.
Height: 5ft
Weight: 90lb, 32B bust.
Class: Seeress to the Elven council.
Specialist: Clairesentience, Telepathy, Illusion.
Weapons: Dagger, psionic skills.

Bio

Eilan's father sat upon the council. His age was too venerable for most to name. She is his youngest child and the first to have the sight, a trait passed from her mother's line. Eilan has seen many visions and it took training not only to interpret them but to control them and when necessary, wall them away. As a child she saw horrors that no child should witness and when it became apparent that nothing would stop these visions completely, and that some of them were premonitions, Eilan was taken into the care of the council. Her skills have been honed and channelled since then and she is revered among her kind, even at such a young age.

Eilan has a great gift of sight and has had true seeings of future events before now. Mostly she sees in the scrying bowl but occasionally, a strong vision or awareness will come upon her unbidden. She can call the mists between dimensions and create illusions to become as good as invisible at will or make herself appear tall and fearfully imposing. She can also mirror an enemy's aura, showing them the darkest, most contemptible recesses of their own soul, which can prove a very effective weapon with anyone who harbours guilt or remorse. She can communicate through the scrying bowl and so will be able to serve as a link between Talinath and the council as they travel. As a servant of the council and only recently of age, she remains pure and chaste. Eilan is open to the auras and emotions of others and so has heightened intuition and telepathic skills with those close to her. It is very difficult, but not impossible, for them to lie to her. Eilan is not trained in general combat but she is skilled with the dagger she uses in ritual.

Now, the peaceful homeland she had never physically ventured from lies tattered and wounded and her father died a brutal death in attempting to reason with the raiders. She feels responsible in part for the carnage as no vision appeared to her to forewarn her people of such a great catastrophe. It has shaken her confidence and trust in her gift so now she wishes to join with Talinath and perhaps atone somehow for atrocities she could not prevent.

(I'm thinking that she can acquire more combat skills en route. As a side note, I'm very submissive and masochistic as a writer and enjoy edgier stuff like nonconsent. Anyone wishing to exploit that is welcome to.)

P.S. I have no knowledge of D&D or similar games so as a courtesy to the aspiring she-geek, I'd really appreciate it if people explained D&D specific terminology as we go along. Thanks in advance.

Like I said via pm, very nice Bio. I like it.
again you are free to post, and you can either post her entrance in the inn, or wait until Talinath leaves and approach him there, as he goes to report to the council.
thanks for joining.

additionally All I might Pick up a fighter or ranger type to fill out our groups skills, or scout, but not sure for sure, if so he will be less important than the others kinda a cross between a pc and an npc sort of

pc = player character, npc = non-player character, ...extras, lol

That's fine. Once I had finished feverishly typing out my idea it occured to me that she wasn't really a ranger at all. I intend for her to become more useful as a scout/fighter/etc as things progress. Also, I didn't want to stomp on the toes of WC's character, who has a lot of ranger-like skills.

You have a good point, even if wc won't admit it haha. I might create a true scout. But I think Eilan will be a great edition to the group.

You sound like you wrote up the bio like I do, fast and off the top of your head and somehow it works out and you think of things as you go, lol.

I can take on scout skills if you wanted. She has justification for knowing something. I'd intended her as more of a sneak thief/con job kind of skill base, but I'm looking for her to develop more control over her willworking as things progress.

She's really not a fighter though. Useful in combat via magic, but its fueled by her hit points, she can knock herself unconscious in a fight. And that usefulness will really only come up as she gains more control, right now its all emotion and instinct driven, so she has as much chance to do nothing or cause something completely random to occur as to hit the bad thing with a stream of green flames.

If Eilan can use that prescience to apply to sword work, she can make a really sweet fighter later on. Until then, we can cower behind the big guy with the armor.

Talinat is permitted to wear non-metal armor or elven chain, Thinking leather or hide for him. and isn't defenseless either, lol

Nym will hide behind anything or anyone when shit hits the fan, assuming she can't get away entirely. Talinath is welcome to stand in front as well. :D

psst.

our new elf can be used as a sort of psychic scout. She can feel if someone or something is near.

I think we're good to go. We have the skills, the knowledge, and the muscle, just not all in one character.

Oki, I can have one come later if you get your asses kicked :phas anyone posted in the IC since me? I don't see the thread

I'm working on a response, hopefully will ease your way back to the elves and can bring Eilan in.
