New York Post

Delonas' op-ed cartoons suck mostly. He got into a shit storm a few years ago with a cartoon about 9/11 fire widows dating other firemen. His stabs at satire and political commentary are all ham handed. I don't know his politics, but his drawings seem very right-wing most of the time. I wish the ghost or the Rigbys (best drawers of Page Six cartoons when it was actually still on page 6 of the Post before it became Page Sux of the New York Pest.) would haunt him.

Oh, and to answer your original question, Fucktard's too good an insult for him.

Editor-in-Chief of New York Post Col Allan said: "The cartoon is a clear parody of a current news event, to wit the shooting of a violent chimpanzee in Connecticut. It broadly mocks Washington's efforts to revive the economy."

I viewed it as suggesting that a chimpanzee could have written the bill,
not likening Obama to a chimp (because HE didn't write the bill).

Where was the outrage from the left about any of these president/chimp references?

The cartoon causing the loonie uproar:

References to blacks concerning most primates is considered racist, mostly due to these examples:

Es-obe: Meaning "Apes Obey!" Used by British Colonial masters in Africa commanding the African workers to get to work. The early colonized Africans, not knowing the meaning of the command also cultivated it into their language- using it among themselves to gather themselves to work efficiently.

Ghetto Monkey: Blacks tend to live in ghettos.

Gorilla: Another Black-primate reference.

Jane Goodall: White girl who prefers black men.

Magilla Gorilla: Term for a Huge, Fat, Black man.

Mangro-Monkey: Monkeys live in mangroves.

Monkey: Similar appearance/genetics.

Monkeyboy: People once believed, because of their high cranium, blacks were close cousins to primates.

Naca: North American Concrete Ape

NAGA: …Ground Ape

NAHA: …Hairless Apes

And not just offensive to Blacks:

Macaca: (Indian Slur) Derived from the word "monkey." Famously used by Republican U.S. Senator George Allen during his 2006 re-election campaign.

Macaco: (Brazilian Slur) The Argentinians call Brazilians "macacos" (monkeys in Brazilian Portuguese language) because they are more racially mixed. Specially used in soccer confrontations.

Macaquito: (Brazilian Slur) The Argentinians call Brazilians "macaquitos" (little monkeys) because they are more racially mixed.

Mountain Monkey: (Norwegian Slur) Danish slur for Norwegians. Frequently used at sporting events.

Perhaps Delonas thought it would be payback for all of the Chimp references made about Former POTUS Geo. Walker Bush. If he wanted to say that the stimulus package was written by chimps, he chose a poor metaphor. But for Delonas, that's typical.

However: if Bush were a Democrat, would YOU have objected to all of those chimp photos during his presidency?

imagine if he'd drawn Muhammed with a bomb shaped turban

He'd be dead…or possibly subjected to a lot of death threats like the cartoonist that drew it. Muslims take blasphemy seriously. Unfortunately, the actions of those who kill in Islam's name make it an appropriate parallel.

Most times chimpanzees are considered hillarious and are used to convey that the monkeys are in charge. As in this ad:

I believe that was the intent of the cartoon all along.

More funny chimps here:

Now tell me, how are any of those racist?

They're just plain hilarious.

You're an ostrich. What would YOU know about being referred to as a chimp or ANY primate?

Why is RW humor so hard? I can't think of a single conservative editorial cartoonist who is funny. Wayne Stayskal isn't funny. Michael Ramirez isn't. "Bob" knows Mallard Fillmore isn't.

Don't forget Carl Moore's State of the Union. I know I can't.
