When you watch a man shave, you copy the faces that he makes while he's shaving?!

It's the mirror thing. :)

And cos it distracts me from the impending tingles. :p

I catch myself doing it allll the time. I wonder where I learned it or if it's just some strange biological, unconscious human response thing. The universe is full of that shit.:D

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery after all. :D

But I'd say it's a biological thing. After all, all those womens mags tell us that mirroring movements of an attractive potential mate will land us that mate.

And shaving is such a male thing. It's natural to be attracted to that, and thus find yourself moving your jaw around, poking your tongue out, concentrating, raising your eyebrows comically and occasionally swearing.

I wonder if they do that when they watch us put on make up?

I have never encountered that behavior before, though my 6 year old does like to watch when i shave; so intently she looks like a zombie.

I think if someone did copy my movements while i was shaving I would think they were making fun of me, and at the very least become very self conscious.

Unless it were a Mistress, I would probably ask for some privacy.

I don't think any of my partners have ever noticed. They're usually looking so hard in the mirror to avoid nicking themselves that they don't have the focus to turn around while I'm mid-expression. :D

One of my first wholly in tact memories was watching my daddy shave over our little emerald-green bathroom sink when I was about seven years old.

I've been busted watching, many times before. I often get told to get lost, cos I'm being a distraction. :D

But I can't help it!

I once saw a co-worker copy the open-mouth move when one of the girls was fixing her mascara.

Just the once though.

And he might have been mocking her :p

*snerk* Seriously. I need to totally try and catch Mister doing this.

He can sometimes get in close when I'm putting on eyeshadow and eyeliner, but I don't pay attention to whether or not he expresses like I do when he's shaving.

Don't tell him I told you this, but I've made him put makeup on me before, just to see if he learned anything. I was really pleased by the result...I thought I'd end up looking like Tara Reid after a few cosmo's but it was shockingly good!

I go into a trance watching Mistress put on makeup so i cant tell you wether I mimick her. i know that a couple times when she's caught me, she simply asks what I am doing and then tells me to stop it!

My husband used to love watching me feed our girls when they were babies. I would often, subconsciously, open my mouth mimicking my daughter as I brought the spoon or fork to her mouth.

I'll probably end up doing that with our baby, too!! :D

Rather than you mimicking her, could it be that you (consciously or not) were trying to get her to mimic you, to cooperate with the feeding?

That was a funny movie!

I'm going to go play Starcraft and pine by the phone for my husband to call me.

Hopefully he'll get home soon so I can ask him about this thread and see what he thinks.
