It Has To Hit Bottom First

I suppose that report was largely fact, but mainly blah and more blah, just repeating speculation made by in house practicioners.

There are closed businesses appearing on main streets everywhere, even on the vaunted 5th avenue NYC, according to one pundit staring out his window high over the boulevard.

I think no one has accurately fathomed the 'bottom' of this fiasco and will not until the likes of Freddie and Fannie and the Christopher Dodd's in stink city, D.C. are in jail.

As I said in another thread, only the beaurocrats are profiting from this malaise, strangely enough, (or not), the same ones that caused it.

Amicus...

Oh...I forgot to mention the obscenity of Congress limiting the pay benefits of people who actually produce things, shades of John Galt...imagine that!

:)

That's not entirely true. High-ranking business execs will do okay with their golden parachutes.

Yeah, SPA, perhaps, but it is the mere idea of overruling a company, its board of directors and CEO, by the mere spite of Congress, that should trouble all who are aware of the consequences.

I for one, would like to see all those, "Honorary Chairs", all unoccupied but highly paid Professors, (paid for by students, their parents and public taxation), perform at least some function of a practicing educator.

Instead, it is treated as a time honored sinecure, an Honorarium to some idiot that scratches his pancake and pours syrup down his back while writing his latest profundity on Butterfly's of the Amazon.

Good stuff Ami. You do have a way with words.

According to Vitter, the GOP is basically betting the farm that the stimulus package is going to fail, and the party wants Democrats to go down with it. "Our next goal is to make President Obama and liberal Democrats in Congress own it completely," he said. Instead of coming up with serious measures to save the economy, the party intends to devote its time to an "we told you so" agenda that will include GOP-only hearings on the bill's impact in the coming months to highlight the bill's purportedly wasteful elements and shortcomings.

While Vitter seemed to think this was a brilliant new political tactic, voters might be less enthusiastic than Federalist Society members about politicians who spend the next 18 months rooting for the economy to get worse, just to prove a point. But, in Vitter's world, that's the price you apparently have to pay for sticking to your principles, call girls be damned.
"Diaper Dave" Vitter Says Obama Adopts Judicial Standards of a "Dictatorship"

And to think, when Bush was pres, they called that "treason".
