I can't think. Ugh. Besides OJ and chicken soup what do you eat when you're sick? (Not the throwing up kind, but the congested-feverish sort of sick...)

Avoid dairy.

I don't think there is anything better than warm broth of all kinds - I like beef. And egg drop soup is a marvelous invention when you're not feeling well.

Hope you feel better soon.

Cold applesauce, mandarin oranges, bananas, saltines, toast with peanut butter, orange Jello....sometimes I make homemade soup with lots of garlic or peppers.
I can't eat dairy when I'm all congested, it just makes it worse, so no ice cream!

I'm all about comfort food...warm banana bread, applesauce, lots and lots of herbal tea.

ooo banana bread. If only I had the energy to make it! I've got two kiddos home with it, and hubbie is sick - at work. And I've got it, too. Rare we all get sick at once like this!

I'm making him actually go to the store for easy sick-food. Keep going, I'm making the list! ;)

(And actually eating mandarin oranges - found a can in the cupboard! perfection!)

Awww hopeb you are all feeling better soon....

Try dry toast....banana....applesauce....jello....blended soups.... no caffine...it dehydrates.....lots of water...broths....juices.....

Toast.

Carbon is formed when bread is toasted- a natural purifier, filters out toxins.

I have to agree with the ladies above.... all sound like the right stuff... sorry to hear if your under the weather:(

Sorry you and your family are so sick...you must be exhausted. Sickness just ran its course through our house too...

Make sure you rest as much as you can. Big squishy hug coming your way.:rose:

English muffins. Just like regular muffins only a third more snooty.

Sorry. Couldn't help it.

Tea and toast is first remedy my mother always but us on. Then, when stomachs were settled and appetites perking back up, we could have oatmeal or soft-boiled eggs.

Nowadays, it depends on what sort of sick I am.

If it's tummy problems, I usually fast until I have to eat and then I go with bread or crackers.
Intestinal stuff, I try and follow the BRAT diet taught to me by Rowan and the women who helped work in her daycare. (Nothing but bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast until the diarrhea shows signs of letting up.)
Sore throat and congestion---warm liquids, soft foods that won't irritate.

When bedtime comes around it is a shot of Nyquil, chased with a double shot of whiskey, finished with hot tea. Within thirty minutes I am usual snoring loudly.

During the day, I stick with soups because it is easy and food just doesn't sound appealing. The heat and the liquid help.

Something tells me Selena has sworn off the whiskey/Nyquil combo. :D

Usually nothing...when I'm sick, regardless of how, I generally have no appetite at all and putting solid foods in my stomach makes me feel even worse. I stick to water and juices when I'm sick.

For me, nothing works better than a shot of NyQuil followed by hot chamomile tea. The NyQuil helps me stop coughing and breaks up what's in my sinuses and the tea soothes my throat and works with the alcohol in the NyQuil to make a hell of a sedative that knocks me right out.

Okay, this sounds . . . 'eccentric' is a good word, but when I feel crummy, I get a half gallon of pink grapefruit juice and heat a mug at a time in the microwave. Ordinarily, I hate grapefruit but when I'm sick the juice and lots of sleep are my fastest route to recovery.

I think I remember you saying this before...because I remember thinking "ew," to something like this.

Although I think I may actually try that next time I'm sick...

I love grapefruit. But I try to get my Vitamin C in non-citrus forms when I've got a sore throat, because it's always so irritating.

I always want Coke or orange soda (rarely ever drink them when I'm not sick) and something salty, like chips of some sort.
