It's said that there are two sides to every story. There are three sides to this one. Hamas claims that UN aid is necessary for the humanitarian good of the people in Gaza. Israel claims that Hamas steals the humanitarian aid. Now, the UN presents their version. Hamas scumbags who are supposed to protect the people who elected Hamas are now caught, by the UN, stealing humanitarian supplies. Why doesn't the UN stop them? Comment?

UN says Hamas seized Gaza food aid and blankets

JERUSALEM – A U.N. spokesman says Hamas police in Gaza have seized thousands of blankets and food parcels meant for needy residents.

Spokesman Christopher Gunness says Hamas police raided a U.N. warehouse in Gaza City on Tuesday evening. He says police snatched 3,500 blankets and more than 400 food parcels.

The aid is vital now because Gazans are facing hardship after Israel's three-week military offensive against Hamas.

Hamas has ruled Gaza since it seized control of the territory in 2007. Gunness said Wednesday this is the first time Hamas has seized U.N. aid.

Israeli officials have charged that the militant group routinely confiscates supplies meant for needy Gazans.

A Hamas government spokesman was not immediately available for comment.

Hammas shows thier true colors.

Steal from everybody and blame the Israelies for the crime.

The root of the problem is that there's a hoodlum culture running Gaza. When you have hoodlums running a place, you find that the residents of the place are just prey.

Hamas, just like their clones in Lebanon, Hezbollah, are lead, armed, and financed by Iran. Why would anyone expect a different style?

Hezbollah is entirely a creature of Iran. Not so Hamas.

CAIRO — Hamas negotiators left Egypt without a long-term cease-fire with Israel on Thursday — but not before some members of the militant group's delegation were stopped at the Gaza border carrying millions in cash.

The delegation walked away from the cease-fire talks because of disagreements over the blockage on Gaza and border security. Talks will continue at a later date.

An Egyptian security official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said the group initially refused to be searched by Egyptian authorities at the Rafah border crossing. When the group relented, authorities found $7 million and 2 million euros ($2.5 million) in cash in their suitcases. Another security official, also speaking on condition of anonymity, said $9 million and 2 million euros were found. The discrepancy could not be immediately explained.

The money was later deposited in an account in Egypt by a Hamas member who stayed behind while the rest of the delegation was allowed to return to Gaza, the second security official said. He later returned to Gaza, the second official said.

It was not clear what would happen to the money.

There was no immediate comment from Hamas.
[It could be that Hamas was too busy stealing UN supplies meant for the people of Faza.]

So far, the UN has done nothing, because they are, allegedly, Muslims, who are more equal than others.

You make no sense. Explain thyself.

Are you saying that the UN allows itself to be robbed because the robbers are muslims? Or because the UN are muslims? Or both? And how does that compute with the fact that the people that are being robbed from, in the end the Gaza civilians, are muslims too?

In short: WTF are you talking about?

Truth is, the UN are there to as observers and to supply humanitarian aid. If a bunch of thugs with machine guns decides to rob them, and said thugs are also the legal authority of the region, and ruthless to boot, what are they gonna do? Pelt them with band-aids?

Get real.

The "the UN let Hamas rob them" quips in this thread is ignorant and pathetic.

If I were running the UN, I would immediately expel the Palestinian NGO representative from attending UN meetings. I would then go to the other Muslim member nations of the UN and put presssure on them to have the thieves tried by a distinguished Sharia judge. The attempt would, of course, fail. However, the Sharia penalty for the kind of theft involved is amputation of the thief's right hand. We are no longer talking about minor penalties. The matter has escalated to the point where the thieves are an embarrassment to the worldwide Muslim community. There would be considerable behind the scenes political and financial pressure put on Hamas. Would my action solve the problem? Hardly. However, I would have taken strong action that would at least slow Hamas down. The action would not involve military power, but rather the political power of Muslim nations against indefensible Muslim actions.

Indeed.

Somewhat akin to the one-sided, American arming and financing of Israel, wouldn't you say?

As far as I can see, the only difference between the two sides is that Hamas has not been occupying and suppressing another people for 60 years...

... when are you stupid Yanks going to wake up to the festering sore that Israel's treatment of the Palestinians over that time has become in the Arab/Muslim world, eh?

You want reasons for your next 9/11, which at this rate is a matter of months rather than years away, look no further.

You Yanks have been led around by the nose by the Israelis for 60 years...

I only hope Obama can bring more balance into the picture and tell the Israelis it's time they stopped relying on the holocaust 'aww factor' to cover up their own misdeeds.

UN halts aid to Gaza, cites Hamas disruption

JERUSALEM – The U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees said Friday it has halted all aid shipments into the Gaza Strip due to interference by the ruling Hamas militant group.

The U.N. Relief and Works agency said it made the decision after Hamas personnel intercepted an aid shipment for the second time this week.

In a statement, UNRWA said 10 truckloads of flour and rice that had been delivered into Gaza on Thursday were taken away by trucks affiliated with the Hamas-run Ministry of Social Affairs. Earlier this week, Hamas police took thousands of blankets and food parcels meant for needy residents.

UNRWA said the suspension would remain in effect until the aid is returned and the agency receives credible assurances from the Hamas government that such thefts will end. There was no immediate reaction from Hamas.

The so called "Palestinian Refugees" have been kept in camps by their own Arab people as a propaganda tools for 60 years. The believed radical propaganda then and left, the Isralies did not force them out. They are nothing but a tool of the anti Israel press.

Is this your entry for poor-taste-moronic-joke-of-the-week?

Here are more pieces of 'anti-Israeli' press, ones which every American should read in order to understand just how far Zionist infiltration of the American government has gone:

Why would Americans maintain support for a country which does this to them?

Are they really all as stupid as Desert Pirate or can some actually think for themselves and realise how prettily they have been dancing to the Jewish vote's tune since WWII?

I think it improves the credibility of the UN that they are blasting Hamas when appropriate.

This should not in any way diminish the harsh UN criticism of Israeli actions in Gaza. Stealing blankets may be a crime, but it is not as serious as killing women and children who have fled to the sanctuary of a UN school or warehouse.

Because all Muslim nations act as one and are responsible for one another, and every ragtag hoodlum gang of bandits who happens to be Muslim.

Just like all Christian nations are responsible and have legitimate and realpolitik leverage over everyone who is Christian. Right?

I'm gonna go talk to my local priest and demand he do something about FARC.

Right.

As far as I remember, the palestinian rep in the UN is a Fatah guy (correct me in I'm wrong). If so, he'd like nothing more than to throw Hamas to the wolves. If he could. As would many Arab leaders.

Snerk,

And I thought I was the only one who visited websites like these. Only thing is I do so for the entertainment value.

For those who don't understand what I mean let me post the home pages for a couple of them. You be the judge.

No, because almost all Muslim nations operate under Sharia law. Thus, a Sharia judge can reasonably try any Muslim.

However Xtian nations operate under secular law and each nation has separate laws.

As to the Fatah/Hamas business, that simply adds the voice of Fatah to the nations who are outraged with Hamas. [Egypt has sealed the Rafah entrance to Gaza.]

You at least used to have entertainment value for the fantasies you've convinced yourself are real, but not anymore. Now you've become as boring as DesertPirate. *yawn*

Right, now let's see you put up your snerking snidery about the BBC and the USS Liberty veterans organisation...

Come on, let's be having it. Let's have your take on why the truth about the Liberty was suppressed for forty years. Give it another 40 years and we might hear a bit more about the twin towers...

Israelis gunning down Americans. How totally poetic the justice of the world can often be.

Wrong. Very few "Muslim nations" operate under Sharia law. Most operate under the principle of national sovereignity. Many Arab and Persian nations allow Sharia law to operate regionally within it's borders though. And Islam is also a much more decentralized religion than for instance christianity. There are hundreds of fractions of both shia and sunni islam, and no über mullah has jurisdiction over the other faction.

And even if they did work as one organism, what would that amount to, unless they actually went into Gaza and started arresting Hamas people?

Zip.
