Guys and Girls I don't understand the mentioned long periods of sexual inactivity. It seems that no one wants the dry spells, but they have them anyway, my question is why?

At the time of mine it was anger about some false accusations, stress of having to go to court every 3-4 months for custody hearings. . .then some health issues.

Still cant believe that was almost 16 years ago.

In my experience of long dry spells...

Sure I could probably find sex, but I didn't want a partner. I'm one of those unfortunates for whom sex is not "just sex". It's breakfast too. And friends and family dinners and then Christmas...

If you're this kind of person, as I am, the kind of person I would rather be not, I think, not knowing what I'd lose being some other kind of person, then I consider carefully.

Although, I have to confess, that even with all of that, everyone I've taken in has just stumbled in.

I am grateful for my long dry spells, and my wet spells too - both short and long.

Why ? a vow of celibacy, just to prove to myself I can control my sex drive.

I know why YOU don't experience it.....it would be pretty easy to get laid being you.
IF I was single or not from a smaller community or didn't have such a structured schedule....I think I could get laid fairly easily as well....being married makes t a little tougher.......many times even with wifey

mmm, i was getting over a breakup. but i don't suppose that abstaining for a month would really count as "long periods" of sexual inactivity.

The short story is that I'm an ugly, fat, boring guy and women aren't attracted to that. (And for a major chunk of that I was also a poor grad student.)

For the first few years, I didn't really have many friends. Then I took up dancing and made more friends, but nothing ever went any further.

Now I'm no longer broke, but I'm older, fatter, and don't have the time to dance regularly. And I realize I don't have enough of the social skills to have a relationship, and I'm almost certainly too old to learn.

If I'm lucky, I'll be able to find a partner. At the worst, I'll eventually get the courage to hire a prostitute and end my slump.

So, yes, women can always find a partner, but men are nowhere near as lucky.
