I'm getting one tomorrow to check on my heart.

Are they a pain in the ass?

My Dad had one for awhile in the early 90s, it wasn't to bad.
Hope things turn out OK :rose:

I leave the heart jokes to Rumple :D

I hope they have hardened probes to deal with that chunk of ice...

Luv ya babe, hope all goes well...

Our daughter had one overnight in the hospital when she was a toddler.

On vacation she managed to find Gram's heart medicine.

Lotta wires, some tape, a bit of concern when she kept turning over and setting the thing off.

Good luck, sweetie.

are you wearing a 24 hour holter or the one that records over a long period of time?

I've had both.. the 24 hour holter is worn like a vest and is more uncomfy than the other type with just stickies and leads. You change the pads yourself for showers and if they slip off in your sleep.

What Champagne said. I've had both types, too.

I had the 24-hour type once. No problem at all, it was actually kind of cool. Beat the hell out of croaking. Good luck!.....Carney

Yeah, I wore one twice. They're not bad. Like carrying an old walkman around for a day. You can't shower though, or get too far from the base station.

They're wireless. The unit you wear sends signals to a base station that sends the data to the monitoring station, and you can't get more than like 20 feet from the base station, so plan on staying home.

Thanks everyone.:rose:

I had the 24hr one, did the stress test and the ECG. This is the next round of fun.

I assume from some of the other replys that you are refering to what I know as a "halter monitor" to keep track of what your heart is doing for a specified period of time.

As others said, it's not bad. It takes a few to get used to carrying it, then you just begin to realize you don't really notice it's there. I've had to wear one on several occasions while in the hospital. They were double checking some other test results and wanted to be certian that there was nothing wrong with my heart since some of the results were iffy. *Sighs deep sigh: My heart was fine. Just a little on the high side of normal. *

Just saw you had it done. Hope the results are the right ones and everything is fine.

*Tea spew* :D

You'll be fine, Baby. I'm thinking about you and holding your hand.

The last time I was in the hospital for a heart problem, they had me wired up to machines to keep track of how I was doing. I remember waking up in the middle of the night and thinking "Geeze, I'd love to jerk off and go back to sleep," then thinking that it'd all show up on the monitors and I didn't want the nurse to come in to make sure I was okay. I rather doubted that I'd have any really good hot-nurse fantasies come true; it'd just be embarrassing.

Well . . . that's kind of why I said I was holding her hand . . . and not anything more graphic. ;)

fuck! i wish i had known. i have so many tricks to piss the monitor off.

(i love you. but if anyone hears it, i will deny it with all my heart and soul.)

Yeah, had to do that twice. No big deal.

But my question for you is....Don'tcha have to have a heart in the first place?;)

Seriously, hope all turns out well.:rose:

Well, I didn't have to get one. The cardiologist reviewed my other tests again and while there was a little funky action going on in the left lower chamber, nothing he felt that was serious.
Mainly...ugh, I have to cut down on caffeine, quit smoking, lose some weight and really try to destress.......the first few will be the easy ones.....maybe.

So, apparently I'm going to live.
