What are you doing New Years Eve?

Anyone doing anything yummy food-wise? I'm feeling cookish... wanna make stuff for New Year's Eve (kid friendly, preferably  ) but I'm so picky lately I can't find anything that really does it for me... yet...

I just bit the bullet and made a white chocolate-covered trail mix thing.

It's delicious, but dangerously bad for you.

4 cups of golden graham type cereal
1 cup cashews
white chocolate

Melt the chocolate, coat the other ingredients, lay out on cookie sheet until it hardens, break into pieces. Enjoy.

Variations are endless.

:)

Mmmm that sounds good!

I've done it with milk chocolate but the pieces take forever to harden unless you add paraffin or some hardener to the mix.

It works with other plain cereals and some crushed peppermint candy canes.

Also works with pretzels in any variation.

I make haystacks with milk chocolate chips. I don't add anything. Just stick them in the fridge to harden.

Looks like the gathering with friends is on. We are discussing the menu at the moment. Looks like snack foods.

Feeling up it? Yes, rather. I'll go take a meanness pill in a moment, though. :)

Ahh, a cat has just jumped on my lap--that should do the trick.

A cat in your lap makes you mean? You must not have the right sort of cat. :catroar:

No. Much too high maintenance, and those shifty eyes give me the shivers. Mine are perfect angels who come to my lap to cuddle and sleep. :D

We've two Siamese. And they do what they damn well please. (which includes quite a bit of laptime--whenever it's inconvenient for us, of course).

Mine do what they damn well please, too. One is especially entranced by the sound of my fingers on the keyboard. The other insists on draping her fourteen pound body over my shoulder. She can't jump up any more, so she taps on my leg with her claw until I pick her up. They just don't give me the evil eye while they do it. :D Oh, and they don't talk nearly as much as a Siamese, either.

And back to the thread, New Year's Eve should be a real treat. The Germans are big believers in fireworks. The city is doing them near where I live and the Germans have their own explosive noisemakers too. My cats hate sudden, loud noises and will almost certainly share their displeasure with me.

Meh can't say there will be too much going on here...no real plans in the least. May just say screw it and pass out early as well.

That option would almost certainly result in a startled cat dancing on my head. I might go watch the fireworks just to avoid the drama.

I'm not doin nothin. gonna work till about 5pm then chill out. Get to bed by 1AM at the latest and then get up and mow the lawn cuz I didn't do so this past weekend.

Geez, I'm getting old.
