Second List, ten only

Jodie Foster "Contact" "Nell"
Anne Heche "Seven Days...." "Volcano"
Gwyneth Paltrow "Proof" "Bounce"
Michelle Pfeiffer "The Russia House" "The Fabulous Baker Boys"

Julia Roberts "Pretty Woman" "The Pelican Brief"
Meg Ryan "Sleepless" "You've Got Mail"
Kristen Scott-Thomas "Horse Whisperer" "Random Hearts"
Liv Tyler "Stealing Beauty" "Armageddon"

I also wanted Holly Hunter, for "Always" & "The Piano"
Renee Russo "Tin Cup" "Thomas Crown Affair", Helen Hunt, "What Women Want". "Twister", Audrey Tatou, "Amelie", "DaVinci", and several more...but...ten is the limit of a poll...

~~~
This was more difficult than I ever imagined and for the fans of classical actresses such as Ogbashan implied, I apologize and also for the content of the films I mentioned, much was entertainment plus performance plus quality of actress.
Still...it was an interesting project and I learned about myself that I have many more female favorites than male and, in the case of Liv Tyler and Holly Hunter, hormones played a factor.
Sorry for those I may have omitted, again, not a complete survey...just my personal preferences.
Hope you enjoy the exercise...
regards...
I'm sorry, but this whole exercise is irrelevant if you don't have Amanda Peet on the list.
Aside from Michelle Pfeiffer, who is the sexiest blonde woman ever, all these women are decades too late for me. I'd pay Liv Tyler a $1,000 to suck my dick with her dad's lips
Hmph...added Amanda Peet, although I cannot recall a single film I have seen her in....and....'decades too old?', sighs, I guess I could have put some teenagers in for you, but their 'body of work', is somewhat skimpy.
How about Hannah Montana, just for you? (Heh!)
As I mentioned, for enjoyment only, not a term paper all inclusive...
Kate Jackson????
All she ever did was Angels and Lifetime movies. I hardly consider her an actress at all.
Just an observation... you said the "era of Johnny Depp and Leonardo De Caprio represents a different view of films and generational concerns", which made them hard to include in your list for men.
Apparently not in your list for women. A much lower average age here, And several of the Depp generation, and much younger, in the top picks for the poll.
Not sure if it says anything about you. I'm more inclined to think it says something about Hollywood.
I hate you now. I was totally in love with Kate Jackson when I was...erm...11.
Exactly. :D
eta: no Kiera Knightly? I really hate that bulldog-ish underbite thing she has, but she's a pretty decent actress...certainly eons better than Kate Jackson.
Hmmm...a five-way tie thus far...Liar, yeah, I noticed that and not to start a feminist conflict here, but I suppose youthful beauty, which does not always last into middle age, may play a role in many actresses retiring after early success...dunno...whereas men seem to age better...as with sean connery, clint eastwood and tommy lee jones....they still maintain popularity it seems?
Now we're getting somewhere.
The X Files: I Want to Believe (2008)
Syriana (2005) .... Julie Woodman
The Whole Ten Yards (2004) .... Jill
Igby Goes Down (2002) .... Rachel
Saving Silverman (2001) .... Judith
The Whole Nine Yards (2000) .... Jill St. Claire
Lots of others. She's underrated, though maybe it's just my celebrity crush.
There was picture of Judi Dench in a bikini floating around here recently. She makes 62 look like the new 35.
And on tv, Sally Field is looking absolutely beautiful on Brothers & Sisters.
Judi Dench is giving Bond some new gravitas. And Sally Field will never, ever live down Gidget or Smokey and the Bandit.
I can't remember where I read it, but someone did a sort of summary of the age of the leading characters in a big bunch of major movies. I think it was all big studio releases from 1995 to 2005. And it showed that there was a significant dip in high profile roles for women over the age of 40.
Gads....I think I omitted Sally Field ....argh! And yes. she has aged well....
Anyway you're thinking of Helen Mirren, who's (for me inexplicably) been voted Britains sexiest woman many many times.
You're right. My mistake. Mirren it is. Probably because of the accent.
Oh, and Sandra Bullock seems to be nowhere in this thread yet. In terms of star power, she's up there with Meg Ryan and Julia Roberts, as a woman who has multible box office hits with her name in front of the title. As an actress, she's a bit of a one trock pony though. But good at her thing.
List is also missing Emma Thompson. Because she's da bomb.
I also have to confess that I had to Google four names: Bonnie Bedelia, Amy Irving, Sondra Locke and Lea Thompson. Because I had seriously never heard of them. And of thouse four, Lea Thompson was the only face I recognized.
Gads! I left Sandra Bullock out? How could I? That ommission makes me feel bad...she would have been in the top and made number ten....gads....my apologies....
This poll is meaningless without Jessica Alba, who does most of her acting with her ass.
LIAR
The ladies take it in the shorts when it comes to pay for acting, and theyre history when their sexual appeal goes.
Take the 80s for example. Name one 80s actress who still has commercial appeal? Yet Clint and Robert De Niro and Tommy Lee Jones and Kevin Kostner et al still draw crowds.
Xactly. There are no roles for older women other than the occasional typecasted token mom and granny. Because there's no business in sagging mammaries.
There are older leading ladies in more serious flicks like biopics and dramas. But that doesn't really make the big money. And Helen Mirren gets half of those roles anyway.
