What if the Justice League existed in the 11th century, rather than modern day?

Thats what this thread is about:

1076 AD
The Planet is flat (or at least, thats the theory), and our story takes places primarily in the land of Noswenner, under the rule of the wise King Nyrimus. In the mountains are the Thanagarian villages, where the barbaric and warrior like 'Bird Men' Live, and in the Oceans, live the Atlanteans, led by the stern Arthur. Also seen in the land are the Lanterns, Peaceful druid like clerics who can channel and shape the earths natural energy.

But in the distance, trouble looms in the shape of Apokolips, a large Empire, ruled by the viscous tyrant and necromancer, Darksied.

The idea for the first plot is as follows; Darksied has begun an invasion of Noswenner, and a rag tag group of warriors end up fighting him off. Then after they purge him, maybe the various warriors come together and form an order to watch over the entire continent.

Character Ideas
These are simply ideas.
Superman - The last of the aincients, an old race that were killed off by a violent plague.
Batman - A Black Knight
Green Arrow - A robin Hood type character
Martian Manhunter - The last Elf, also a mage.
Plastic Man, Fire, Ice, Red Tornado - Elementals
Steel - A Blacksmith / Knight
Wonderwoman - A female warrior
Blue Devil, Red Devil - Warring Demons
Etrigan - Etrigan

Character List

Name: James Reyes
Alias: The Azure Knight (Blue Beetle)
Powers: Super Strength, flight, armor, energy blasts
Race: Human & Azure (Scarab)

History: Jaime was born and ordinary and his life was rather uneventful for the first sixteen years of his life. He helped his parents farm, that was what he was doing when it happened. A god fell to the earth, a great warrior from the heavens wrapped in a strange cobalt blue armor. The helm was strange instead of grates or a slit it had large red glass eyes for lack of better term. He was dying when he landed on the earth. Jaime wasn't a healer, he could only make the God's final moments bearable but he couldn't save the deity. In thanks the God had shook his hand and Jaime had passed out. It had to have been a god, afterall men can't fly.

When he awoke there was something on his back. It was digging into his back, but strangly it didn't hurt at all. It was just frightening that something was digging into his flesh! He clawed at it, tried to get it off but it wouldn't come off. He'd been on his way to show his father when he spotted a wolf.

Jaime saw all sixteen years of his life flash before his eyes. He was going to die. The beast leapt in for the kill. Jaime raised his hands in a useless protective gesture. It turned out it wasn't useless. Strange blue armor wrapped him protecting him from the wolf. Instead of digging into flesh it was wrapped around the armor dragging him. Jaime reached out to strike the beast which leapt away deftly. It didn't matter, a yellow white orb erupted from Jaime's fist knocking the beast over.

He decided his dad didn't need to know.

The next eight years he spent galavanting around rescuing maidens, foiling theives, saving kittens from trees and of course making a little money when he could.

Okay, tis good, but just a few points....

1) The name is too modern, Maybe if you'd change it to James....

2) Reading it, I think that the sword and shield bit aren't really needed....his armour is just as good as a shield, and the sword as well...its...when i first saw the name and worked out who you were i simply tried to guess where you'd gone with the character, and i imagined him just as you have done him...just without the sword and shield....but thats just rumpy old me, lol.

3) Rather than him getting it from a god, what if he got it from the previous Azure Knight....and is just the most recent of many to hold the mantle....it could be adding to the legend that the azure knight is an immortal warrior or something.

My intent was that he did get it from the previous Azure Knight. It was immediately following a battle hense the plummeting from the heavens and what else would a medieval person think of a man who fell from the sky? I suppose he could have assumed wizard.
