The "Things Not To Do When You're Blue" Thread

Do not listen to Anni Kookoo on repeat.

eta: Actually, that might be good. Catharsis, etc.

get out the photo albums...

I learned to just forget about them.

It was another lifetime..not this one.

Do not tweeze your eyebrows. This also applies to mere boredom.

Do not watch DVD's of 'Ishtar', 'Water World', 'The Postman' or 'Battlefield Earth'.

If you aren't depressed already, you soon will be. :D

Absolutely do not listen to music from your teenage years, however much you love it. Especially if said music is by Radiohead

Do not watch Beaches or Philadelphia.

And from this morning, let the other spouse take child into nursery. There were children crying in all rooms today. You stand a chance of joining them very quickly! And the minute your child starts looking sad cos of all the other children are crying run! (She did go to the window to wave so I made sure to pull my sad face together and make loads of funny kissy faces at her and she started laughing.)

Don't come on lit
Don't drink alcohol
Don't have sex (it's okay, but comedown is bad)
Don't talk to people
Don't think about dead loved ones
Don't listen to Joni
Don't panic, it will pass

Don't keep thinking about the situation that is making you sad... because its not actually going to change... and will only make you more depressed.

I actually acutely disagree with those saying not to listen to sad songs, i.e. "cry in your beer" music.

That is EXACTLY what those songs are for, damn it....

I mean, you don't want them on repeat during the happy moments...

Don't fake a smile. Embrace your blueness—for a set period of time—and then let it go.

Don't eat that pint of Haagen Dasz: eat a whole flipping gallon!
