hello

Um.. yes.

It's also possible to be a better baseball player than a golfer.
Or a better singer than a guitar player.
Or a better carpenter than a plumber.

And hi. Welcome to the forum.

Here at literotica, for example, I've read poems by people who are typically story writers and good ones, but some of them don't seem to grasp what poetry is really about.
A good poet might make a good story writer because they bring some of their poetic skills to a story. Then again, that could be the downfall of their story.
Anyway, like Liar basically said, someone who is good at sports could be better at baseball than golf. Writing stories and writing poetry is a lot like hitting balls -- a bat for stories and a putter for poetry. ;)

A batter must have a pitcher and would ideally love to knock the ball out of the park, some wide distant space somewhere Out There. For the putter it's just the putter and one small hole.

I'd been thinking of a fishing metaphor lately which I think tells a lot and maybe shows a bit too.
