And we thought WE were pervs . . .

The whole thing seems rather silly, except for being such an egregious violation of privacy. I would certainly have no interest in an upskirt site or a downblouse site. I can go to hundreds of places and find better looking women showing off a lot more, and I can go there for free.

Besides that I think it unconscienable that people would do such things.

I dunno, the legal presumption is that in public, you have no right to privacy, but there does seem to be a pretty clear cut issue of personal space here, even if that issue is itself, fraught with Grey areas.

There was a perv at my local mall that was recently caught "upskirting". I wonder if is a problem that will manifest from visual to physical.

If he is doing it to post on the Internet for commercial purposes, probably not. If he gets his kicks that way, maybe.

Possibly, if it indicates a basic lack of social skills that would prevent the upskirter from being able to form a reasonably normal relationship. It's not a good start, but could actually result in an increase in sexual confidence, it's sort of like counting coup.

Hard to predict statistically however, you're back to the nature vs. nurture question, but it generally requires some fairly intensive stimulus to turn a person into a sexual psychopath - men are opportunists however, when it comes to sex, rape and date rape were issues long before anybody had a cellphone.

Current studies indicate that autoerotic activities tend to result in an overall decrease in sexual assaults, which are probably more likely to be triggered by abstinence and frustration, coupled with a culture of male prerogotive, and permissions - i.e., it takes a powerful stimulus to drive a person to violate social taboos and more likely if they think they'll get away with it - the "she was asking for it" defense" - an old standby that's gotten a lot of men off the hook for rape in the past. It's gotten a lot harder to fly that one past a jury, given the turn that fashion has made in the last 50 years.

Autoerotic activities tend to siphon off this type of stress rather than increasing it, and sexual psychopaths are more likely to be fixated on highly specific stimulus without which they may have difficulty functioning sexually at all.

While autoerotic activity is often associated with sexual psychosis, it's thought that it's a symptom, rather than a cause, according to research: sexual predators often operate in cycles, and engage in autoerotic stimulus between attacks - the fantasies may feed the psychosis, but it's thought that the psychosis precedes the autoerotic activity - i.e., autoeroticism is a normal activity in a wide variety of species, and yet they all pretty much adhere to whatever social controls they've evolved with respect to breeding, including humans.

In this case, there is an element of aggression, but I direct you to this article, where a sex researcher describes a common pattern of sexual excitement that peaks during the anticipatory phase, rather than the consummation, and visual fetishes commonly adhere to this pattern.

Most unstaged upskirt pictures on the net are from Japanese sources.

Perhaps that says something about some Japanese males' attitudes to women - or perhaps it doesn't.

Or maybe we Westerners are prudes? :cattail:

Or maybe we don't have to take covert pictures when we can buy overt ones at most newsstands?

Another Japanese male obsession appears to be with giantesses. Perhaps taking upskirt pictures produces the impression of looking up at a giantess?

Og

Edited for PS: When my eldest daughter, fairly tall but not excessively so, was on holiday in Thailand several Japanese couples wanted their picture taken with her standing between them. The head of the tallest man was on a level with her armpit. Even the Japanese wives seemed to find the contrast amusing.

From the people who gave us tentacle porn, used panty vending machines and Kegadoru.

If it's weird, or perverted, or both, it most likely originated in Japan.

The SO and I were talking about this just the other night. I had never heard of used panty vending machines before she mentioned it to me. Talk about a WTF moment . . .

On the other hand, they do make some interesting public sex videos.

According to email I get, my stories lead to quite a lot of masturbating. If so, I may be helping to decrease the number of sexual assaults. If that's the case,
I may have to change my sig line. :D

By no means is this a complaint. If I know fo sure that I do help decrease sexual assaults, it will give me something to feel good about. :D

Lest anyone think this is only a male thing, I have had this issue every time I wear a kilt in a primarily female environment.

If you really want to see that bad... then have the fucking guts to ask. The one woman who ever did ask to take a picture that way, I said yes.

Upskirting (or up-"kilting", to be fair) is basically offensive. This shit they call "sharking" on the other hand, is sexual assault and, in the U.S., at least, a criminal offense. As it should be.
