Do you wear anything during play?

It was brought to my attention that we are often nude during play. Let me explain. My little girl asked if I had ever thought to wear something like wrist cuffs made of leather or something else small to kind of make a statement. We both know our place and she has a collar but I have nothing to really compliment that on my end. I know pieces are available for specific types of play or uses but she meant something I would have for during times of play but it would be more of a piece that is there but not something that is active for a use. I'm not sure I'm making sense.

I think her intention was that it would in a way signal while we are always Daddy/little girl when it was time to push out the world and really revel in us I would be able to put on some item to go there as she does her collar when we are home.

I'm looking for ideas that others have used.

i always wear at least the collar Master made for me, the anklet with my slave registration number, and my piercing with his initial since they are all on 24/7

more often then not when we play i wear my leather collar as well, though it isnt a pre-requisite as we play pretty much anywhere and anytime he wants to, so we dont always have it on us.

if im wearing my leather collar i usually have leather cuffs i wear on my ankles as well.

More often than not, I'm not wearing anything, and even to the point that while I was with Jounar I didn't even wear my collar (he made me take it off for my flight and I didn't put it on pretty much the entire trip). There was one time he dressed me up, but for the most part he likes his nude.

He usually was clothed until we went to bed. Playtime didn't always lead to sex, and often we'd cuddle and watch tv after. I'd either remain naked or have some sort of lounge wear on, and he'd wear the clothes he had been all day.

*shrug* no big "it's time to play" get ups for us.

Maybe some kind of belt you could clip your toys onto?

Maybe there hasn't been enough coffee in my life yet today, but this just brings up images of Norm Abram walking around the New Yankee Workshop with a dildo, a few crops and floggers, and a short cane hanging from his tool belt. They sway a little every time he bends to feed a board across the table saw.

We're not much into defining play as such. If it happens, or is planned to happen, it just does. That means that sometimes one or both of us may remain fully or partially clothed, or one or both of us be naked, I may have my collar on, but if it is a time such as before/after a shower or during sleep time, just as likely I won't have it on and it is not something we believe it is worth interrupting the natural flow of things to rush off and put on. What is important is that we are together, doing what we enjoy, and aware of who and what we are...the rest is simply tangible decoration.

I wore a torc for a couple years, pretty much all the time. The traditional symbology of it is pretty much opposite that of a collar.

It had a grounding presence for me, and to me it very much symbolized more than just freedom, but self soveriegnty as well, which to me is about owning my actions and being resposible for the outcome rather than trying to displace blame with lame excuses.

I've always considered a torc to be an awesome symbol for BDSM, either in wearing one as a Dom, or letting a Mistress wear mine (which has yet to happen) to symbolize that She holds my freedom.

I'm sure I posted something to this effect here a couple years ago.

Now, I'm sorry, but I have always been led to believe Torques were originally worn by Gaulish/Celtic women of nobility and status. Eventually they were worn by the men as well for unknown reasons, but primarily they were still a piece of women's finery. It was not until a Roman soldier fought and killed a Celtic warrior and took his Torque- wearing it as a spoil of victory- did the adornment become a symbol of honor and bravery among Romans soldiers. It even became common for soldiers to collect Torques from their victims to prove their strength and fierocity.

I have never heard of Torques being referred to as symbols of freedom and self sovernity; more so as symbols of royalty and nobility and eventually conquest and victory. Mebbe when the hippies brought Torques "back" in the '60s they assigned such symbolism to them? Who knows. *shrugs*

The only thing my PYL wears when we play is a evil naughty smile :D (and sometimes a belt in his hand)

uh.. either nothing or pieces of whatever I was wearing before play started.

Sometimes I wear my collar when I'm on bottom, sometimes not. It's not a big deal either way.

When I'm Topping and planning on using my strap-on, I like to wear my patent leather knee boots with 6" heels. No, not because I think it makes me look Mistressy or anything. It's just that I prefer to stand up with the victim on all fours on the edge of my bed when I use my strap-on. My bed is so high up that I either have to wear heels (and those are my highest ones) or build a stepladder to be in the right position. The boots are better than plain old heels, anyway, because they keep my ankles from turning over.

Other than that, it doesn't really matter with me.

odd; i've never found anything to indicate any of that.

What i've heard and read is that nearly everyone in celtic society wore torcs, with the weight supposedly representing how much responsibility the person had. Cheiftans supposedly wore thick nickel torcs, with most being bronze or copper. The only people who were not allowed a torc were slaves & foreigners, making it a badge of freedom and citizenship.

I've seen a lot of depictions of celtic/ gaulic men wearing torcs, i've even seen it in a christian depiciton of Goliath.

For that matter; a quick search reveals only a couple humanoid depictions of the Stag God Cernunnos where he isnt wearing a Torc

There are some accounts of entire villages commiting suicide rather than be enslaved and have their torcs removed. I remember reading that a particular general proclaimed that gaulic slaves could have torcs again if they joined his army, though i also remember thinking; didnt the romans press slaves into their armies anyway?

I doesnt suprise me that they would be taken as trophies, but i cant imagine soldiers being allowed to wear them, particularly if they were women's jewelry. dont know that last bit for sure though.

Self sovereignty is what my torc represents to me. The idea that my own freedom is not free, and comes with responsibilities. (ie the responsibility implied by the weight)

If i am free then my actions and the consequenses belong to me, not to any mitigating circumstance or scape goat.

torque is a newer spelling, which also relates to machinery. I just like the old english spelling better.

From my history study days, I am with SweetGigi on this. Torcs date back to the Iron Age in BC, and in terms of Celtic history, were often the adornment of gods and goddesses. It was also something worn by women, though those usually found in nobility. It later became a symbol of bravery and conquest and was awarded to soldiers who were considered brave and/or had performed some feat of honour in battle. It also was worn by particular Roman regiments within their forces. Torquatus was the name given to Titus Manlius who was a Roman who killed a Gaul and later wore the Gau's torc from that moment on. This may have been when it began to be seen as a mark of honour for a soldier to wear a torc. I also have never heard it described as a sign of sovereignty or freedom.

While I like your symbolism, Stag, I still can't find the facts to back it up. I even checked with my former ancient anthro prof and he agreed with Cat and me.

Honestly, if your torque holds such symbolism to you, then that is all that matters. Really all it boils down to is what it means to you, dear.

Sweetie, I was in no way trying to immasculate you. Only sharing my knowledge from my education.

I really do like your symbolism. I am sure any DOMME adorned with your torque would be honoured. I am even considering this as an option for hierarchy in our fold now. Just because we cant find any history behind it doesnt make it any less a beautiful sentiment.

*hugs* Relax, dear. :)

SO will sometimes put on leather gloves when play starts (i love the feel of the soft leather on my skin) and i think it arouses him also (like getting into character).... it's a big turn-on, you should try it :D
