First, whatever happened to Christmas? Second, you guys need a better way to get the word out about the contests. I figured it would start around December, but NO It's already underway, November 10th! What the hell is going on? I'm one who has a life and don't sit my ass on the computer looking at your site 24/7! You need a better way to get the word out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For one, it was just announced on the main page.

For two, its a matter of avoiding being sued for exclusion/not excluding non-Christian members. There are members of other religions here.

For three, if you have a gripe about not hearing ahead of time enough, talk to the mods in PM.

For four, the vast majority of people here do have these things you call lives. Though with your apparent attitude problem I seriously doubt yours is worthwhile living, lest it be in anger management classes.

With Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc. all falling in such a short span of time, Winter Holiday covers all of them. That gives you a broad range of topics, making this one of the easier contests to write for, actually.

All of those writing NaNoWriMo and preparing for the holidays balances out what would otherwise be a never-ending scroll on the contest page.

Right now, the contest page looks like a postage stamp *laugh*

My first one was Christmas themed. The one I'm wrapping up right now is Thanksgiving. Have an idea floating around for New Years.

The deadline for entries isn't until Dec. 7, so there's still plenty of time to get your entries in.

I can sympathize with the OP. I was aware of the Christmas contest, but the entry date took me completely by surprise. On the other hand, I think Christmas in America is a crock of shit, so it doesn't really matter to me when the contest closes, because if I entered a story, it would be universally hated.

In my world, Santa not only knows when your are sleeping, and knows when you're awake, he also knows when you're pleasuring yourself with your vibrator because he's either peeking through your window or he has a secret webcam in your bedroom, and your bathroom. You see, Santa lives at the North Pole because he's a sex offender, and that's the only town that would have him. And all those elves - you don't even want to know what he does with them (not to mention the reindeer games.)

Thank you for your personal invitation, but I'm done with contests, except for Survivor. The Survivor Contest is the only one that can't be turned against me. Although, who knows. The vote is still out for this year's contest.

I think it's a sad commentary that last month's contest there were 178 entries and this month there are only 9. The only difference that I see in the contests are they changed the rules and disallowed authors who enjoy writing multiple chapter stories.

I did post my unofficial Winter Contest Entry, It's A Wonderful Life, the real story behind the famous movie with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. Most people don't know that It's A Wonderful Life was a remake of a porn movie, She's A Sexual Wife.

Both movies have the same cast of characters, Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed, and Lionell Barrymore. There were very few movies made during World War II and actors had to do something for money, so they made porn films for rich, white, old men.

The movie studios closed production during the war because of the Victory Tax of 1942 that taxed 90% of their excess profits. It was a bad time for everyone.

My Dad told me the true story and I recount it for everyone's enjoyment in my It's A Wonderful Life.

It has to do more with NaNoWiMo than it does with any rule change. There may be a lot more stories up after November is over and NaNo closes.
