As part of our on-going discussion on religion, here is an interesting article on a little religious disagreement that got out of hand at the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem (for once neither Jews nor Muslims were involved in a holy land fist fight): Brawling Monks

Again? Sheesh! Those two groups have been brawling like this on and off for nearly two thousand years. Pathetic.

Six christian denominations share the church, Eastern Orthodox(Greek) Armenian Apostolic, RC, plus minor roles for Coptic, Ethiopian and Syriac orthodox.

Violence is common and the different churches never ever agree on items of common interest like maintenance. No change of any description is allowed in any of the common areas. A ladder that was brought in for some minor repairs has been left leaning against a window because moving it would be a concession to one of the other faiths. It is known to have leaned against the window for at least the past 156 years!

Relative sanity is only maintained by the doorkeepers who control access. They have inherited the job for over a thousand years and they are moslems.
