Down-ticket races - Congress, Senate, Referendums

P.S. Pray I never meet you in person. Pray really, really hard.

*shaking head in abject disappointment in those who voted for these stupid laws*

One has to wonder why people are so stupid as to think that allowing gay marriage will somehow twist the minds of future generations, or that it will somehow destroy the institution of marriage, pervert it, twist it. In agreement with a religious group out in CA, I wholly believe that the only way to destroy marriage is from within, between two people who no longer respect their own relationship.

I've tried and tried and tried to understand the thought pattern of those who oppose gay marriage, and I can't. I just can't.

Lets see, the morons in NC have elected another slate of Dems to the top posts.
Part of the same crew that has held those posts for 20 years and almost bankrupted the state 8 years ago. :(
80% of the Legislators that were responsible for that are still in office. :(
Except for the last Speaker and the 3 or 4 others who are in jail.

Guess it's true that we get the Govt we deserve?
Some voters are just to damn stupid.

Washington and Raleigh define insanity:
doing the same thing the same way and expecting different results!

What is it with Republicans and felons? They don't want them to vote, but they don't mind voting for them.

And the problem with that is? :D

Wonder what Palin has to say about this--she told him to resign.

You do realize that if they prosecuted every Congresscritter that takes bribes, around 3/4 of them would be in jail. :D
Party is irrelevant on that issue, they are equally guilty.

The two candidates for the House seat in Virginia's 5th District are within a 120 votes of each other. (AP puts the 120 in favor of the Dem and the Va. Election Board puts it in favor of the Republican.) Now we have to wait for a month for the official recount.

That's too long. The Supreme Court should just choose a winner and have done with it.

Well, it's a couple of weeks before the real voters for president (the electoral college) cast their votes. :D

THIS Supreme Court? The one that handed the election to Bush because they didn't think counting all the votes in Florida was necessary?

They have no thought pattern. They are simply a bundle of reactions, like termites.

She's too subtle for her own good. I've spoken to her about it. She replied with something that-- I can't help feeling-- I should have laughed at. It's a nagging annoyance, now.

*laugh* I think it's rather that I'm new here and don't have everyone sorted into the appropriate categories yet. If you'd said such a thing, I would have known you were joking, because I know what your political opinions are. *note to self* "Put shereads in Stella box." :)

Al Franken is losing his Senate race by a margin tight enough margin to trigger an automatic recount.

:D

Senator Franken? That would just be too delicious.

LMAO....Senator Al Franken...***** imitates art. He did, after all, once write a novel about himself as the first Jewish President. It was fucking hilarious. Maybe he decided that he would at least get in arm's reach of his dream.

C-Span would be a hell of a lot more interesting. That's for sure.

Umm... the GOP has gone from the party of the big tent to the party of the big house in the last ten years.

Keep telling yourself the Dems are equally guilty if you need to, but saying it out loud just makes you look ignorant.

Rumor has it that Al Franken is a closet Libertarian.

Al Franken is a closet assclown in search of a sweet gig. Remember AIR AMERICA?

Meanwhile, San Francisco voted "No" on the city measure to not enforce laws against prostitution, by a margin of 58% to 42%.

Also, Michigan approved medical marijuana, and Massachusetts approved a measure to decriminalize small amounts. Other municipalities approved 'lowest enforcement priority' marijuana measures. summary

Personally, I can see why felons shouldn't vote. Just depends on the felony. If it's an offense which shouldn't allow for parole, to begin with, than the civil rights should remain unavailable. Case in point is James Hamm, a convicted murderer who can now vote. Grrrr...

If, on the other hand, you committed a prank or single act of vandalism as a youth or even a burglary of a partisan HQ, and have long since proven a model citizen (G. Gordon Liddy, for example), then it's time to stop denying you those rights on a false basis.

Howard Mechanic is another such case. He did something stupid once, panicked and fled, and then became a solid citizen (aside from illegally running for office while on the lam). Time to forgive and forget in his case, too.
