Well the wife and I went and got it over with, we went to the local polling place and voted today. To be honest the is the first election in my life time I wish we could just start the process over with and choose some one different from both parties. I wonder how the major parties have become so disconnected from the main stream. Maybe it is just me I really don't know but I feel like this time I was voting against some one rather than for some one. I really don't think my views are radical one way or another. I just feel like none of the parties represent my views or my vision as to how this country should proceed in to the future.

Like I said before even though I voted, I really did not vote for the guy. I really voted against the other guy and his political party. While I admire the guy I voted for I do have serious doubts as to his personal integrity and his willing to make a deal just to make a deal.

The other guy how ever I am 100% against his views on foreign and domestic policy. I think his tax policy will send this country back to the late seventies and early eighties. A time of high unemployment and high interest rates. I think his energy policy will do nothing but fuel monetary inflation eroding the purchasing power of our wages. If congress passes his health care reforms it will do nothing but double our cost on health insurance and or severely limit our access to adequate health care.

When it comes to big picture issues I am shocked at what this guys says. I don't know maybe I am stupid but how can words written in the constitution mean completely the opposite from what there were originally written in 1789. I am afraid if he wins he will start taking away our rights starting with the second amendment, following that the right of dissent. Then the right of freedom of religion and then the right to own private property. I would not be surprised if he wins this would be the last time we get to vote in a free election in this country.

I just wonder if anyone else feels this way or am I just paranoid.

Somebody move this thread to some other part of the board where it is more appropriate. Since I feel the GLBT chatter is not the correct place, to say that he or she is voting for McCain, since the reps has done a lot of Damage to the GLBT area. So could the moderator delete my post (please with sugar on top) and move this thread to perhaps the general board ?

People who enjoy same sex activity have always been an extremely diverse group. Despite mainstream society's best effort to permeate one stereotype or another we don't all fit in to the mold. Such as we are not all skinny wimpy guys who like to wear silk underwear nor do we all like to bend over and take it up the ass. Like wise if you take a real close look you would find out we are not all flaming liberals. Many of us have a believe in a conservative policy in which the cornerstone is the less government the better. Don't get me wrong I am not an anarchist by many means in fact I do believe we do need a governmental body to provide for the basic needs of a society.

How ever the discussion begins when we start discussing what those needs should be. As for the harm the Republican's have done to the Gay Lesbian bi Community? I think it is nothing compared to what the Democrats have done. In fact let's see what the Democrats have done for us all. Let's see first we have don't ask don't tell policy of the military, has that done any thing positive? A side from being steady fodder for humor in the entertainment industry I don't think so in that it does not do what should be done. Which should be to make gay and bi people to feel more secure in their environment.

Second I would just like to point out the way they attacked Larry Craig in that stupid situation he let him self get caught up in. The GLBT community sat by silent and in many cases joined in on the petty vicious attacks on his sexual preference. Rather than take notice on they way they attacked him. I would just like to point out if they feel that way about Larry Craig's sexual preference, just what do you think they think of yours?

I'm going to move it to News & Issues but I have no problem with it being in GLBT. Queers like to talk politics too, and this is a free speech board, so I'm certainly not going to say "you can't talk about Republicans in GLBT."

I think Obama will be a great president.

No one's tax policies and trickle down nonsense will be worse than Reagan's and BushJr's.

I have my fingers crossed for repeals of DOMA and DADT.
