I am probably shooting blanks here, or at least bullets that have come before :D

But what would y'all consider an erotic poem? (As in what elements of poetry are erotic (Alliteration? Theme? Symbol? Story? The words?)? I know it's been asked before (by me) but I need a refresher, please.

I don't think everything pornographic is erotic nor do I expect everything erotic to be porn. My main criterion is arousal. If I find it arousing then odds are it's sensual and erotic.

erotic

anything too obvious and intentional loses me (I'm guilty of it sometimes, though)... I may as well just get a vid & shut down everything but my fingers, hips & eyes.

ideas, a desire to please and be pleased, originality, a sense of humor, double entendres...

i guess i would just ask any author not to blow his/her load (or ask me to blow mine) without a little foreplay... or is that too blatant? >.<

I think this is erotic.

I am dressed chill in leaves on rill of bone
cold night spread against our rise. In the gleam
of moon I am your harvest, warming stone
in winter, shielding shivers in a dream
of starry skin underneath the season
of our discontent. Fronds dip. The tropics
yield in ocean me. There is no reason,
no logic nor wanting talk, for topics
fail to speak in the slurp of murmur. Care
ceases in the hiss, in the wind of breath
knit into the grass rustle and the air,
look you, awakens in the little death
of autumn, clear as eyes, as the pale kiss
of fragile blood frozen still after bliss.

And this is very erotic.

Breathe

the burnished steel of our bed,
as metallic glow pours from the picture-box
and rearranges us in formalized poses,
reflecting graphs of chromium-coated skin
backlit in diagrams of thermonuclear weapons
that flash in blurred ellipses
over sections of our bodies,

The curve of an exposed breast
The soft cushion of a buttock
The arch of a damp perineum

reminders of fresh sensual quarries:

You clasping my breasts to a single globe
the moisture on your lips as you descend
and engulf my stiff nipples,
distracting me from these out-of-character acts.
Your body framed within the contours of my own,
flashing hundreds of perspectives
of flickering mouths, necklines, navels, tongues.

You encage yourself in the fork of my thighs,
break codes hidden in my musculature.
My hands memorize the geometry of your penis
and enclose its radius within my vulva,
drowning our sexuality in the light
of soft-drink commercials multiplied across
the glistening surface of my rising and falling buttocks.

'The Cold War is over'
announces the man in television

(but we know better)

Our semi-metallic body parts interact in new junctions.
You slap me, try to force your flaccid penis into my vagina,
middle finger looking for my anus along the parabola of my cleft,
your empty face clicks on and off in masks of anger and distress.
Your semen runs down my left thigh onto the pool
of sweat and synthesized intimacy soaking the silk sheets below.
Your head swings in my direction, as if remembering,
but you are silent:
it doesn't really matter for people like you.

For people like us

Our space is minimalist,
anonymous and functionalist to the core,
a colourless
frozen reminder of texture,
and torn pages of countless novels
line the wall over our bed,
a chill sterility of words,
a chill sterility of us.

What's pornography? What's erotic? I know there have been many discussions on that subject, but I can pretty much tell the difference between the two. Sometimes it blatant. And I agree that some pornographic material isn't erotic at all.

Love your post, miss trust. I think it's not too much to ask for some poetry foreplay. ;)

Ange, isn't the first one yours? I know that beautiful poem. And the second one?

I know erotica when I see/read it and I know erotica when I write it. Yeah, that's not telling you much, is it? lol
I stole this post of mine (below) from another thread. It has examples of what I chose as good/interesting erotica.

Cassidy, here are some examples of erotic poetry. Reading is a good way to learn.

To me this is love. ;)

erotic - the word

The word itself?

Actually, yes: I find the word 'erotic' to be erotic... There's something about r's and h's when soft or guttural, velar. S's can get me too but not when hissed. Vowels often get me because they frequently require you to open your mouth and move your tongue. The 'c' ending this word is said way back, not with the middle portion of the tongue (at least with me) and it's almost like swallowing the word.

There's a lot to be said for different words that mean the same thing & selecting which sounds erotic or not.
Ass = no, not erotic to me - more like porn - it's harsh, twangy and leaves nothing for me to play with
Tush = yes, idk, there's a hint of innocence in the word - it sounds like 'push' and that one's a good erotic word + the shhhh sound is like a breeze through tree leaves (I love breezes)
Butt = no, not erotic - sounds like you're about to say you like me BUT >.< I don't like butt or but as words most of the time - butt could be a great word instead, it reminds me of just (another I'm not too fond of), there's something of a letdown to it

Erotic will usually leave something to my imagination while porn is overt in a very big way. Erotic isn't always flowery or even complimentary to the subjects, it is honest, humorous, sensual, thoughtful, appreciative, inclusive and relatable... Oh, yeah - there's nothing exclusive about eroticism. If someone/thing tries to be erotic and is exclusive about it in some way... well, you've lost me.

Ok, you've gotten much more than my 2 cents >.< that's more like a nickel... or a nipple... or... oh, i don't know....

Hm. Erotic. The word 'porn' rolls off the tongue like a smooth drink. Porn. As a word it's soft and creamy. EROTIC, well that's harsh with tics.

I am not quite certain why you give me three versions of buttocks? I never said anything about fannies. However, from your use of words, I can tell that you probably love spanking.

Why are fetish people especially in tune with words?

They are better in touch with explaining what they want and need, perhaps. Plus, there is safety and security in knowing the right words and when/how to use them.

The Unexpected.
First time reading an erotic poem versus reading many.
If I read for the first time someone's fingers tracing or grazing, or someone is arching, I might consider it effective erotic poetry. If I've read a thousand erotic poems and tracing, grazing, and arching have appeared in nine hundred and ninety of them...

I think it was Champagne who had one in which the first line alone it felt like a beautiful bare pussy was thrust against my face. It was unexpected. The image, the effect, left a permanent impression.

Add: At the time the powerful image forced itself upon me, I didn't really think to notice how it had been done.

KISS I agree.

Ahhh, now you have the true question. I hate defining erotica since my interpretation is so individual. You could ask 20 people to explain their classification method or you can ask me about what arouses me :).

I find exacting phrases about how a touch feels, descriptors that I can understand without seeking a definition are far more effective than telling me about a slippery cunt or a steely thrust. Associate those with an obviously sexual experience and my mind sends delightful electricity all along my sensory conduits.

If you must tell me then make the telling as enriching as possible. Don't say he fucked me; tell me how he fucked you. Give me an opportunity to share (even if only vicariously) and I can promise, I will get aroused.

I suppose I pronounce porn differently because it's got a hard p for me that doesn't roll so well... erotic, on the other hand, makes my mouth move & that hard click at the end is like the beginning of a swallow... Idk - i guess I'm odd :)

I gave the three words because you're asking what is erotic & I was attempting (poorly) to show how you might refer to or say one thing in more than one way (basic, I admit) but each way comes off differently - at least to yours truly. And I've never been spanked so I wouldn't know if I like it or not.

I am a tactile person, I'll give you that. I do love sounds, though, so I'm not sure if I go more for sound or feel but I know I go for both. Eegad - not answering your question anymore - apologies for getting off track.
