Good News, Bad News About My Leg

I just came back from the orthopedist.

The good news is that I don't have to use the crutches anymore.

The bad news is that I have to keep on wearing the boot for another month. However, I can take it off not only to bathe, but in bed and when I'm just sitting around watching TV or at the computer. The orthopedist also said I should do flexing exercises with my foot; that's another thing I can do when I'm just sitting or lounging around. Kind of like Kegels.

But, dammit, I was going to get a professional pedicure tomorrow, the first ever in my life, and now that's going to have to wait because it doesn't seem very bargainous to have it done just on one foot.

My foot's all raggedy on the bottom, from where the pressure wound healed, and from just being all pent up most of the time. If only (1) I could afford it, and (2) if they had them in my part of the world, I'd dearly love to have one of those fish pedicures. However, I think that with my foot in its present state, they'd do their job and then sink gently to the bottom, sending up the message:

We're full. Please drop in Alka-Seltzer.

I have another medical appointment in a little while; one of those meds-monitoring things. I'm going to drive myself there, as my son, who's been taking me everywhere, has a lucrative house-sitting and dog-walking gig that starts today. The orthopedist also didn't recommend me to drive in my boot, but hell, I've driven in shoes with 5" heels and 2" platforms; how much worse can it be?

I am SO not going to go there, but DAMN it's hard! :D

:rose: Happy for you! I broke my right leg at the knee three days before Christmas last year so I know whatca are talking about.

Just be careful driving! Don't want to read you getting hurt again.

Congratulations. Get a pedicure and you'll feel all better.

BTW, that business with the skin-eating fish pedicure gives me the creeps. I fear they may wind up in a seafood bisque.

Eeeeeewwwww!

If you can take the boot off for lounging around, why not for the pedicure? You could wear it there and then put it back on when you are done. Hope you're feeling better. :rose:

That's true. I might do that.

I forgot to ask the orthopedist about resuming the athletic stuff I was doing, but right now I'm just glad I don't have to crutch around.

Get better Tony! Go get that pedicure! I had the first one in my life about two months ago, it was heavenly. The fish thing sounds like a gimmick to me, I would rather have a person scrubbing and massaging and deciding what skin needs to go.

I've Been Walking Since Friday, and Boy, Are My Legs Sore

Oh, I've had fun; just not very athletic fun.

My calves are burning. I can understand the right one being sore; after all, I haven't really used my leg since I broke it, but I didn't expect they would BOTH be sore.

Another thing I forgot to ask the orthopedist: I've arrived at the age where I have to get up around 4:00 or so in the morning to use the head. I've been putting the boot on to walk the few steps to the master bathroom, but I'm wondering if that's strictly necessary.
