Real Deal on ‘Joe the Plumber’ Reveals New Slant

I have my doubts that Joe is really up on his accountanting. Plumbers make good money, but $250,000 to $280, 000 net for a two man operation seems like a bit much. If that is the GROSS amount, that would be a different matter.

As for tax problems, I have my doubts about that. The writer from the Times said he owes taxes, but goes into no detail. As a semi-retired tax professional, I am aware of how taxing agencies go after the little guys, and try to gouge them for as much as they can, and never mind what's right and wrong.
BTW, I have always been under the impression that this forum tends to cut quite a lot of slack for single parents.

the TAX LIEN is just under $1200.00.

as to the details, of course they haven't been revealed. Would you want them revealing yours?

It ain't what "Joe the Plumber" did or didn't do, Box, it's about the Cons picking up something off the Internet or wherever and making a big deal out of it without checking out the facts. Almost everything McCain said in a Presidential Debate on national TV was false. It was all a charade, a lie. And it has become typical of the Con approach to politics. Lie and deny.

I don't know about Ohio, but in Ca. tax liens are a matter of public record. Not all the details, but the dates and the amounts and the name of the taxing agency. The ones in CA will also go after people with all weapons at their disposal even while certain items are still in dispute. I have a couple of clients where that is happening right now.

BOX

Plumbers make pretty good money doing repair work. I recently paid $155 to replace an outside water spigot. Thats about $310,000 for one guy.

But Joe aint the issue. Obama is the issue.

If Joe was a juror his issues would be relevant, but he's a common schmo with a question about his income. Obama unleashed the media goons on him.

-sigh- These threads just remind me of why I would never ever want to run for office of anything. Too much information too readily accessible to those who have no right or reason to use it, save for the idea that they can slander someone else and make a fortune doing it, while excusing themselves to be "informing the public of information they need to know."

He merely posed a question. He was not referring to the right now, but to the future. What if, that plumbing company of his in the future is worth $300,000 a year, gross?

Oh, and someone should inform Gov. Rendell of PA that he got his math very much wrong. When he was in the midst of defending Obamas plan, he got the numbers very much screwed up, which, while I know most will just nod their heads at what he said, just causes me to shake my head and wonder about the public that elects officials who cannot do 6th grade mathematics.

Our most popular politician here is a slum-lord. She rents scores of old, crappy trailers to poor people. But she talks the talk, the newspaper loves her, and little is said about her investments.

But her opponent got some help for depression, and his issue is all over the paper.

SARAH

Sorry, Sarah, Obama got tagged with Joe the Plumber. Recall Willy Horton and Dukakis? Bush tagged Dukakis, and that was it.

Mom & Pop business already suspects Obama and the Democrats plan to fuck them with taxes. Obama confirmed it with Joe.

Not quite a tank moment. Seems to me all the hubbub has mostly served to deflect shit from Obama onto Joe (unfortunately for him) and McCaine.

If Joe's plumbing company makes 300k, he pays $1500 more in taxes on the additional 50k net profit. That's not exactly taking it without lube.

JOMAR

Especially after the Democrats were orgasmic to throw money at Wall Street swindlers. Obama coulda saved America ONE TRILLION dollars by letting the swindlers drown in their gluttony.

Uhh... Bush initiated the plan. McCain "suspending his campaign" to run off and support it.

SELENA

Put down the Kool-Aid.

Of course Bush supported the plan, he's a perfumed prince like Pelosi and Kennedy and Kerry. All of them were set to lose big money if the plan didnt pass.

And remember! Congress is responsible for money bills. Bush suggests, and Pelosi makes it happen.

*snerk*

No, no, she hurt the rep's FEELINGS, she was singlehandedly responsible for it's near failure!

Unless you've got a crystal ball, there's no telling what the "bailout bill" is really going to do, or whether it was the right or wrong thing. Only time will tell. *shrug*

And if dems are responsible and the republicans were the ones who should have been against it... it's funny how McCain went out of his way to support it and all, huh?

SELENA

Pay attention! McCain=Bush=Kerry=Kennedy=Pelosi McCain's wife is a gozillionaire!

It's like Al Capone=Lucky Luciano=John Gotti=Dutch Schulz=Bugs Moran

"Government is the capitalist's racket." Al Capone quote

Bingo. McCain's campaign strategists have got to be really lame with how they've been misfiring for the last couple of weeks. Of course, Obama's campaign strategists don't seem all that able to take full advantage.

No, read Selena's lips. The Bush administration initiated the plan.

That soundly vaguely like a put-down, though for no obvious reason.

Yet you don't seem to be too concerned about finding out why you're making such a bad impression on me and others.

If you're going to start a posting flurry without taking the time to get to know the people around you or the place in which you're posting, no wonder you can't figure out the obvious.

Now now Jen...

Bullshit. People have replied to you aplenty, and if someone I'd know for a while on here was making statements such as yours, I'd be reacting almost exactly the same way.

I've done nothing but express my opinion. Which is what others do all of the time. I certainly said nothing vicious to you or anyone else, and yet you verbally assault me without provocation. Classic hazing.

All I said was that I was getting a bit embarrassed for you. That wasn't hazing, that was the truth, and that was me trying to get you to think about how your attitude might come across in your writing. I was starting to blush by association when I read what you'd posted before.
