I've got horrible pains in my side and gut... feels like I did a huge ab workout for the first time in a year. I'm kinda shaky and no appetite.

And I'm running a fever (just 99.8, but normal for me is like 97.0).

This is going to be one of those lying in bed for a week, bundling the blankets around me, feeling like I'm going to die sort of things, isn't it?

I've also been losing weight lately. Which isn't all bad: my stomach's nice and flat :). (And no, I'm not sucking in in the photo.)

Food poisoning?

I hope it's not a kidney infection...although the one time I had one I had chills, nausea and a high fever (around 103). But I did have pain in my right side and gut with that.

Feel better soon, but in another day or so if you're not better (and since you've been losing weight anyway), please go see the doctor. :rose:

Pain and unexplained weight loss are never good symptoms. If the walk-in clinic is open on Saturday, I'd go.

So, more than a low grade fever (elevated by 2.8 degrees in a "normal" person would be 101.4F), pain that extends from the side to the abdomen, and weight loss? Right side pain, by any chance?

Think (maybe) gall bladder, and get in and get seen. That symptom constellation is nothing to screw around with.

If you're not at the doctor's office/ER right now, you should be. Best wishes.

Please, go to the dr's! Losing weight without trying is not a good thing. Maybe your blood sugar is very low, might account for the shakes. Just go, if it's nothing at least you'll have peace of mind and your friends won't worry.

I think it's the onset of the flu.

It's muscle soreness, not inflamed organs soreness. Some Ibuprofen got a lot of the soreness down and knocked off my fever as well.

But if it is the flu, it's going to be a wicked one.

Some 20 years ago, I suffered a bowel obstruction. The pain was very similar to the muscle pain usually described as a "stich in the side." I also suffered a lightly elevated temperature. It required a doctor's visit and x-rays to determine it wasn't going to require an operation.

My brother just last month complained of symptoms similar to those you describe. He put off going to the doctor until my SIL all but drug him tothe emergency room by his ear: He spent three days in the hospital as a result of letting his appendicitis escalate to critical levels.

Even if you have to pay ER fees out of pocket, you're better off with a doctor's assessment than being in denial.

Best wishes to you, sir. Get well soon if you can. (Sadly, I'm not used to talking with people with the flu, I have no advice that's not already given. ><)

Agreed there. The retina detachment in April I had? The only reason I can still see is because I headed the signs, no matter how minor they seemed, and went to the hospital. A lot of people end up going blind from a detachment because they don't go to the doctors soon enough.
