Boo! to you, poetry people. This is my favorite holiday. I can walk the streets like the dark creature that I am. :devil: Who wants to write a Halloween poem and maybe, just maybe, win a prize? Our wonderful Angeline has persuaded our wonderful Laurel to contribute a prize to the winning Halloween poem!

Ready to get started?

Guidelines:

  • Submission Deadline is October 20th
  • Poems should be PMed to The Poets
  • Poems must have a Halloween theme, of course.
  • The poem may be any form and any length.
  • Each title should include a Halloween word, such as: Halloween, spirit, pumpkin, etc.
  • No illustrated poems, please.
  • After the deadline date, poems will be posted anonymously by a moderator and a poll will be available for voting. In the unlikely event of a tie, the poetry forum moderators will vote.
  • Edit: The winning poem will be announced on the 28th. That should be enough time for voting and you'll still have time to submit your Halloween poems to literotica before the 31st.
  • Please do not submit your poem to literotica before voting has ended. Poems are to remain anonymous during the contest. We trust that you will not be emailing your friends with your title and pleas for a vote. ;)
  • Your moderators - JackO'Lauren, Witchy Eve, Deviline - may write a poem but those poems will not be eligible for voting or a prize.

Well I've written it but one line isn't right and there's no-one I can ask ... sob ... andddddd I like the title but don't want to be chucked out cos that's not right either

Except we did lately sort of acquire a black cat with these really bright round eyes of fire. Was curled up in wife's lap the other night. Said that cat growled like a dog. Forget why. Heard something. saw something. Should be something halloweeny in that...?

Hey, you have until the 20th. Let is set for awhile, then go back and read it again. Edit if you need to. Have faith in yourself! :rose: And send us the poem! We only have one entry. Send it or I will put a spell on you! :devil:

I've only got till next Thursday if that, I go away 17th and by then I will be in panic mode (over travel plans not poems!) and I keep editing this damn thing and it's turning into frankenstein's monster (how very apt lol)

Ah, sweetie, don't let it stress you. You don't have to do the contest, but I really hope you'll put the poem away and ignore it a few days. It will make difference.
 
It's done dusted and sent mainly because I think my mouse may be on the blink and I didn't want to take the chance of not being able to send it at all lol but yeah it's finished I think I got across what I was trying to say *fingers crossed*!

We can't start the voting until the day after the submissions deadline, which would be the 21st. It wouldn't be fair otherwise because if we don't post all the submissions at once, voters might see a newer submission they like better after they already voted, you know? Say we post some poems on the 15th and Voter X chooses a poem and votes. Then we get in more submissions on the 16th and post them, and Voter X thinks "Shit! I like this poem better but I already voted." However if we're announcing the winner on the 28th, we can keep the polls open till the 27th. Will you be able to get to a computer between the 21st and the 27th? I hope so. :rose:

Well we have a 2 bedroom apartment and three of us going the settee usually folds down to make another bed and that way you get to hog the TV. So hope on over all you like ! I gather it is about 81 degrees F there at the moment

Sigh. Lucky you. Enjoy it! It's actually lovely here now in an autumnal way. No 81 degrees though. But no snow yet! :kiss:
