OOC: Firefly Character Claim

I could pick up one of the other rolls if we need them filled. I think I could do a pretty good Book. Wash might be tricky, though I think I've got the zany personality down. Jayne would be fun, though I'm generally not inclined to play such an ass. Still, I could do him pretty well. I'm not above playing a female roll, but I'd rather hold off on tossing my hat in on Kaylee.
 
Well, if its still available, I'll toss my hat in for Jayne. never played such a guy, and who knows, maybe I can get drunk enough to do that most amusing character justice!

How fast paced is this thread going to be ?
 
one idea just occurred to me ( i know not why, i blame sobriety for this oversight).

Have this thread take place between the show and the movie. Everyone is conveniently alive then! could even do like a Sara Conner story thing here and ignore the movie completely. (yes i know there are 3 comics that cover the time between the movie and shows). Good flick and all, but it was no where near as good as the show, and reavers are still scary as hell.

Also, I think we should , for the sake of sanity, standardize how our characters will be speaking in Chinese. I'm really hoping its Not looking up all the Chinese and then posting that, as my head might explode....but that's up to everyone, or Velvet, since she was kinda handed the reins here. Maybe just coloring what would be said in Chinese a certain color or something? Can't loose that wonderful detail of the firefly world.
 
Actually, if the others "key" roles aren't claimed do we have other players that are like the key roles. Like if Kaylee isn't claimed do we have a mechanic or hell we can NPC them until someone claims them. For me if someone has more than 1 charrie in a thread and there isn't a real way to distinguish b/w there charries i get confused.

Did that make sense?

I've been looking at FF/S specific Chinese glossaries on SciFi sites. Once I've found something that's simple enough for us to all work with, I'll post a link. I'll then ask people to stick with the Chinese contained within the link rather than ad-libbing courtesy of Babelfish or something. It shouldn't take long for phrases to become familiar as we go along.
 
PS, I just posted on the TTNP for a Wash, Book and Kaylee.

It's kind of you to offer to double up FI but Mal is pretty central and I agree with La_Reina that it'll be less confusing if everybody just wears the one hat.

Sorry I've been off-line for a bout a week with the move to the new city. If no one has claimed Jayne Cobb's role yet, I REALLY would love to write that one. He's definetly my favorite character in the series.

I'll have limited posting till next Monday, getting my new internet service installed on the 13th. It was supposed to have been done today, but the original order got cancelled somehow :(

I believe Tseranc beat you to it hon but you could take Wash, Book or dream up some evil Alliance dude and wreak havoc that way.

yeah...the crazy one....come to think of it, in the original, I believe it WAS a guy who was the admiral
 
all i saw of that was the episode where she died, it was funny

so how exactly would an evil aliance agent mess with the crew? i was thinking of playing a lone agent or operative who was on a completely diffrent mission, and hired the crew of serenity as transport to keep up with his cover
 
I'd imagine a lot of strife with Jayne.....and Zoe wouldn't be too happy about it either...Mal would probably go "Welcome aboard...now excuse me while I go kick myself in the testicles" or something like that
 
when would someone currently working for the alliance not flaunt it?
 
a deep cover agent, using public transport to maintain his duisguise, thats how undercover operations work, i see no reason to believe that the Aliance is any diffrent in that reguard
 
I think DR has a point in that Alliance forces haven't done anything undercover with Serenity and also I think that Serenity is too small a fish to warrant that kind of operation. I culd maybe see it if it was somebody from the Academy trying to recover River Tam but even then, all through the FF/S series there has been nothing covert.
