Dow Down 777 - Guess Who's At Fault?

1$ got a nice picture of Pres. Washington on them and they're so much fun to glide into candy machines which then spit them out a few times before failing to deliver the candy.

Seriously, for some reason, Americans just ain't into 1$ coins. The mint tries over and over again to put out such coins, but ever since they phases out the over-sized dollar coins for ones closer to "quarter" sized, the public just refuses to use them. Maybe because they put women on them? Maybe if they put Sara Palin on one....

Only if she was naked!

how can you love this? this can spin so out of control! Rep and Dem they are both out for his or her own interest. to say that you follow the Dem's and think that they are out for the little man or woman, you are only fooling yourself.

Nancy Pelosi talk about energy and global warming and she is freaking flying in a 757! Please!!!

you can't take sides, this is much bigger. lets come to the conclusion that Rep and Dem are both scum bags and all of D.C. needs to be cleaned out.

The Dow dropped 777 points today after the Republican sponsored bailout plan failed when two-thirds of House Republicans voted against the bill.

Who's at fault?

Who else, say Republican leaders, but them danged Democrats.

I luvs it.

Both sides come across as only concerened with self interest and totally incapable of doing anything because it is the "right" thing to do.

Republipricks and Dumbocraps can all go the hell!

If you vote for an incumbent this year, you are as dumb as they are!

Pelosi is pushing for her own gain!!!!!! she is a bitch

oh, god...not you too.

No, it's just that so long as the gov-mint insists on making dollar coins so small, no one is going to have any interest in them. They have to go back to the old dollar-sized dollars . . . or start engraving them with porn.

Nah, even after all due NRA consideration, I don't want her that close to the Red Button, especially with a CIC that old. I've finally found someone to vote against. Phew. For a while there I was going to be forced to make my decision on positive factors and I'm not quite sure how to go about that. ;)

Tsk. Tsk. Spreading lies. So typical.

The current $mear on Speaker Pelosi is a case study in how the right-wing $mear machine operates. The right has been working to spread a lie that Speaker Pelosi "demanded" a "luxury jet" to fly herself and "supporters" and "contributors" around....The facts are simple: since 9/11, for obvious security reasons, the Speaker of the House of Representatives (who is next in line behind the Vice President to become President) has flown on government rather than commercial aircraft. Speaker Pelosi is from California, so with the House now back to a five-day workweek the Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Representatives requested a jet that can make it to California non-stop. According to the Sergeant-at-Arms,

"The fact that Speaker Pelosi lives in California compelled me to request an aircraft that is capable of making non-stop flights for security purposes, unless such an aircraft is unavailable."

That is the entire story, period. But...Over several days, the "Pelosi plane" story has been expanded into a fable that has Speaker Pelosi "demanding" a "floating pleasure palace," a "luxury 757" with two beds, a bar, and 40 first-class seats, so she can "transport her political cronies, favorite Members of Congress, congressional staffers, friends and relatives."

An interesting point to note about this story is that such government planes do exist. The Bush administration has actually purchased such planes for use by executive branch officials and military brass. But this "use of luxury aircraft at taxpayer's expense" is not objected to in the retelling of this story. The objection is to their use by Speaker of the House Pelosi in particular. So perhaps part of the right's anger driving this issue can be laid to authoritarian resentment about a member of Congress - "the People's House" - a female Speaker, no less - being "demanding" enough to possibly gain use of one of "their" luxury planes.

Sorry, honey. Only Bush gets the luxury plane. Pelosi only gets a non-stop jet for emergencies.

Well, if it went down 666 points, we'd all know whom to blame.

5 weeks from today there is this thing called an election. This is where intelligent people can tell the "Thundering Herd of Dumbass" in Washinton exactly what you think of them.
1/3 of the Senate and all of the House are up for election. Every single one of them should be fired.
Anyone that votes for an incumbent this year is as stupid as the politicians. They are the ones that caused the problem, both parties are at fault.

Watched the morning news shows, plus Fox, today. The far-right is still trying to have it both ways: "blaming" Pelosi of killing a bill they hated.

Instead of praising GOP house members who bucked their own President and congressional leadership for casting a "Profile In Courage" vote against the bill, they keep wailing, "Nancy did it."

It's that posturing, not the damage done by the bill's defeat, that I love.

IMHO, the political bottom line is simple: Republican economic policies, especially in regard to the deregulation of financial markets, are the chief culprit behind the economic mess. Now they want the Democrats to take the heat for fixing the problem, but only if it's done the GOP way. If things get better, they'll claim the economy was always basically sound. If things get worse, it'll be the Dems fault.

As for Pelosi's speech, that was nothing more than a routine move to give Dems who hated to vote for the bill some covering fire.

Again, I'm not saying Dems wouldn't be doing the same thing if the situation was reversed, but it's not.

Rev. There were two problems yesterday. A poorly crafted bill that the average citizen sees as a bailout of rich people. Colliding with a bunch of selfserving asshats that would only do something for the good of the country if it made them look good.

Face it folks, when 40% of the Dems join 60% of the Reps to vote against something, it was not a good idea to start with.

Bipartisianship in action!

If this morning's LA Times is to be trusted, the real 'culprit' is us, the voters, who buried our Representatives in angry email, letters and possibly carrier pigeons telling then that this thing was bogus and that if they voted for it they'd better have some good unemployment insurance. Look for a major overhaul in Congress in five weeks? Could just happen. Hmmmm . . . "Vote No on Everybody!" Now where have I seen that bumpersticker before?
