According to FactCheck.org Palin simply asked the librarian if it was possible to remove books from the library.
The librarian, politely, told Palin to get stuffed.
But she never banned any books.
A quick check-in with snopes.com is always wise; This is a list of books that would-be banners most often go after, but Palin did not have a list at the time. She just wanted to know if the librarian would ban things-- if she should happen to ask.
It says a lot about Palin that this is so believable though.

I can understand banning, 'Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary.' I mean, the guy had an incredible vocabulary, but no sense of plot at all.
