Scooby Doo Assistance?

A bust with a raven perched on top. Subtle but those who know... shivers.

Sounds like an awesome play... wish I could come see.

fake skeleton hanging from a strechrack, burnt out old van with bulletholes in the rear view mirrors oh and upsidedown cross and of course a bumbersticker saying "I voted for Wallace"

I'd have a chair that grabs you when you sit in it but for a high school play it's better left unused. You know where they'd grab.

Hmmmm . . . I like Salvor's raven. How about a character who says something like "Valcome to my cazzel!" or some hunchbacked Igor-type?

Old, dusty, cobwebby mounted heads of assorted odd animals. If they move or the eyes blink, even better.

An eerie shadow painted on the wall. Very subtle, just a shade or two darker than the wall color.

A hole near the floor with a rat or something peeking out.

Bonus points if it is Alfred Hitchcock's profile shadow ;)

I like the animal head ideas - excellent! And blinking eyes.

Shadow on the wall - very nice.

And the little hole with the rat peeking out! Excellent!

I was telling the set crew today - I want things that not every person will see. I want things that aren't obvious. Probably no one will catch them all (except for parents who come to all three shows), but they'll catch enough to keep looking.

:)

Great ideas, everyone!

How about a creepy old pipe organ that plays itself whenever the heroine walks by? There's a really naughty pun in that but no one but you will know it.

Frau Blücher. [horses whinny]
(sorry, just that always cracked me up)

I love plays. I miss my high school days dearly just because of drama club.

Maybe once I've moved and found a position at one of the local high school, I'll be able to get involved in this sort of thing once more.

I don't really have any ideas (I was thinking "creepy organ", but that's already been said) but I wanted to say that I hope it'll be a successful, awesome play. It certainly sounds like it will be. :)

How about one or more of the walls repeatedly bulging out, then returning to it's regular shape...like the house is breathing?

Or an image that appears and disappears in a mirror...prolly a skull or ghoul face.

Sounds like a cool play. :D

How about a recurring noise, like a door creaking open--then later creaking closed, that the actors notice the first couple of times with a silent take, then ignore. The audience will do the same.

The door closing sound might be a good way to end each act.

Something that changes each time the set is revealed, i.e., a lamp with a different shade each time or a small picture on the wall that either moves to a different place or is hung at odd angles or varies from landscape to portrait to abstract, etc.

Oh! I almost forgot!

During the second act, for no apparent reason at all, the entire cast (and crew) is going to dance Michael Jackson's "Thriller" - we've already started work.

It has nothing to do with the show.

But I want it. :D:D:D

That's awesome.

I  you. Can I come watch the play?

Ooh - more good ideas!

The kids haven't even auditioned yet - that's next week.

Once we begin to work I know they'll have incredible ideas to add.

In this play the caretaker actually is the bad guy so we're going to add a Scooby Doo moment (you meddling kids) or some such.

And when they've finished they can look at each other in confusion and wonder what that was all about. It's been 25 years, after all. Hysterical!

This is the sort of thing that makes people in the audience just go nuts. And that the students will talk about in between classes the next day. :)
